Not all of our private investigator member victim losses will be posted here because of the severity of their conditions, but here are a few to share with you:

QUOTE:

"Hello,

First I want to thank IPIU for offering assistance.

At this time I am in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

It is just so disheartening to think I have no home, no schools for my three daughters, no money except what is in my checking account for bills. I did not pay before I left (best thing I could have done).

My husband has lost his job because the business he worked for has been completely destroyed.

This is just so horrible that I have spoken to many who feel there is no reason to live.

We must be very concerned about the health hazards in the New Orleans area due to the contaminated rising sewage water with dead bodies and animals. The people that are walking through this mess could be carriers of some of the deadliest diseases our country will ever face.

We also must think about these same people being transported over state lines to Texas where it could spread.

I don't know if the government is concerned about this however we should all begin thinking about it.

Again...thank you for extending such help to all of us. We have no where to go and nothing to go to. We all are just feeling extremely helpless.

May God be with you and all of the victims of the terrible situation.

"My name is Sherrie and I am a member of the IPIU. I live in New Orleans and have lost everything. I would like to apply for the emergency aid that's being offered to the victims. I have evacuated to Atlanta, Georgia to stay with an uncle until we are able to get back into the see to evaluate the damage of our home.

Thank you.

"I have family that lives in New Orleans that needs help.

Rosa

I am writing you to see if there is anyone working in the Gulfport, Mississippi area. We have been trying to locate my Aunt Karen Kowel. From the pictures on TV, the Grand Casino is sitting where her house would have been.

I have all her information. You can privately email me or my mother. My mother has all her information.

We are considering her deceased due to the fact that none of her family has had contact with her since 1:00AM Sunday.

Sincerely,

James

I have a sister in Biloxi, MS.

I spoke with her briefly after the storm and a brief e-mail from her work. She seems okay.

Apparently her home made it through, as did her husband and 2 young daughters.

Thank you for being there for your members.

I have an uncle and aunt that live in Moss Point, Mississippi. The address is 4906 Griffin Street, Moss Point MS 39563. My uncle's name is George King and my aunt is Darlene, they may have my grandmother with them who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease and has been in a nursing home nearby.

Also, I have an uncle and aunt and grandmother missing from Gautier Mississippi. Their address is 8621 Bayou Castille, Gautier MS, 39581. Their names are Jim and Anita Backstrom. They may have Carolyn Backstrom, who is elderly with them. Jim Backstrom is a well known judge in the area. We think they may have evacuated to a camp in Lederville, but cannot be certain.

Please, if there is any way to find out if they are alive we would just like to know.

Thank you and God bless.

I am a private investigator out of Gulfport, MS. I have my own agency. I stayed during the hurricane but recently evacuated to North Carolina so that I could tie up some loose ends on three of my out of State cases.

I am not a union-member as of yet and I don't know what kind of assistance that you could provide for me but I am interested in finding out more.

A lot of my clients are attorneys that were in downtown Gulfport. Most offices were flooded and gutted on the first floor. Second story firms may be OK. But no one will be able to do anything until the electricity is turned back on which could take three weeks to a month.

Thank you for thinking about us.

My Sister and her husband and their twin boys are from New Orleans and have lost everything they had. If there is any way that IPIU could help them I would appreciate it.

Thank you so much all that you are doing to help the people devestated by this storm.

Sincerely,

Stacey
