The International Private Investigators Union (IPIU) is now offering a Priority Support ticket to help private investigators qualify for the new PayPal requirements in order to accept client payments through the private investigator's web site.
On October 2011, the new Bank Secrecy Act went into effect which now requires banks and website processors to know their clients more personally than in the past.
If you are a member of the The International Private Investigators Union (IPIU), then IPIU can assist in setting up a corporation to shield your personal identity and personal assets through an anonymous filing by one of the legal team's professionals. A new tax identification number can be provided, with a new professional web site which is linked to accepting credit cards and paypal funds. Some of these services employ the lawful use of a designated proxy with a power of attorney. Most often, the process does not require the proxy or the power of attorney.
Here is a copy of some of the new requirements for 2012:
2.3 Identity Authentication. You authorize PayPal, directly or through third parties, to make any inquiries we consider necessary to validate your identity. This may include asking you for further information, requiring you to provide your date of birth, a taxpayer identification number and other information that will allow us to reasonably identify you, requiring you to take steps to confirm ownership of your email address or financial instruments, ordering a credit report, or verifying your Information against third party databases or through other sources. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents at any time. If you use certain PayPal Services federal law requires that PayPal verify some of your Information. PayPal reserves the right to close, suspend, or limit access to your Account and/or the PayPal Services in the event we are unable to obtain or verify this Information.
