    Darin,

The link to Florida process serving statutes appears to be bad. May I suggest the following link instead.

Click Here For Florida Statutes Regarding Service Of Process

Jim, that is an excellent web source. I don't have the time right now to experiment with the root website, which appears to be a government website on statutes. But if you have the time I would like to know of other state regs on Process Servers that we could replace with more clear and direct links.

    As an example:

    http://www.leg.state.al.us/ does not work

    http://www.leg.state.fl.us/ does work

    It may require:

http://www.state.al.us/ first and then explore for the leg.

Glad you enjoyed the link. I checked out Alabama Code (What they call Alabama Statutes) and found a source, as follows:

Click Here For Alabama Code On Service Of Process

It should be noted that the codes state that generally, Alabama process should be served according to the Alabama Rules Of Civil Procedure. One link I found for the Alabama Rules Of Civil Procedure regarding service of process is as follows:

Click Here For Alabama Rules Of Civil Procedure Regarding Service Of Process

    I hope that this helps.

    Anytime! Glad to have helped!

By the way I am working on the florida link. It seems all of the government statute sites have been down for a while. I'm trying to find links to the info in college and university sites for the state now! I'll reply here when I get it fixed.

    Florida's working again.

I try to use only official government and collegiate sites as much as possible because the information is more reliable. However, the sites themselves are not as laws are consistantly changing, they must keep up with them on the websites.
I appreciate everyone letting me know when a link fails! Thanks again!

Just for Info about process serving in Oklahoma

Ok here’s the break down in Oklahoma to become a Licensed Process Server.

For a County the fee is 15 dollars, but filing fees and mailing cost bring that up to 147 dollars. That’s for 1 year.

For Statewide process severing its 262 dollars for 1 year.

Also you have to get a Bond on yourself for 5000, which after checking around is about 50 dollars.

So for about 200 dollars you can become a Licensed Process Server in Oklahoma.

BTW (by the way) the clerk I talked to said it had become quite a cutthroat business in Oklahoma. But one that will become very profitable if you’re persistent, and willing to get your own contacts for business.

    Links on process servers regulations

    Darin,
I tried the New York State link and it too appears to be bad. I was on a roll with all the posts and links for process servers and I was truly looking forward to find out about this for New York! Any additional help would be appreciated.

I am working on the broken links. Evidently one of the servers that a lot of the links were pointing to is offline now. I will do my best to get all links up and running by tomorrow. I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

You're welcome. I understand what you mean as far as being able to understand the laws. It almost as if they were written in another language sometimes. I just keep rereading them and looking up words that I don't understand and going back until they are clear.

Thanks, I feel better now that I'm forgiven. I really felt bad when I went back and seen how long you were asking that question and not getting a reply. I'm usually more punctual.

Anyhow, if you ever notice something that I missed in the future, please don't hesitate to email me at Darin@ipiu.org. No matter how busy I am I still check it a few times a day.

Just to let everyone know that the Law in Tennessee has change on Process Serving. I was told that in July they changed it. Basicly you can have anyone that is not involved with your case, serve the papers.

Darin, I'm not sure if I missed something while reading, but what does (Rule 4) mean? Thank you in advance.
    Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture...be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Ps 100

I am sorry that I missed your post, B Ann.

I added the "rule 4" as a convenience for everyone because the link that I provided is a link to the whole “Rules of Civil Procedure” of that particular state.

I have found that most states’ Rules of Civil Procedure has rule 4 pertaining to the rules of process serving.
