What is on the Ohio PI test

Does anyone know what is on the private investigator test for the state of Ohio. Just sent in my completed packet and if I meet all the criteria, they will set me up with the test. If anyone has taken it let me know,

    Thanks in advance, Sophie

    Aloha Sophia,

Each state has there own tests. What you might want to do is call down to the test center and find out what should you study on. Here in Hawaii the process is quite difficult, but they have a different center for test and if I was passed the application process it will be passed on to the test center. Then the test center contacts the applicant and let them know what books to study on.

Usually they give you heads up on what books to study and which state laws to study on.

    Hope this helps.

    Thumbs up

    Ed,

Thanks for your response. I have not found another forum like this. It is hard to get information on this kind of topic. Are you a PI in Hawaii? If so, How long?

    Best Wishes,

    Thanks again,

    Sophia

    Sophia,

I too, would like to know. So I went to the website to see what I could find out.

    To get to website:

    Ohio Department of Commerce

I then did a search inside of this site. Query for "Area of study for Private Investigator Test" and in the first link was a 27 page (.pdf format) of "2002 Ohio Private Investigators & Security Services Laws & Rules."

    To see PDF go here:
2002 Private Investigators & Security Services Laws & Rules

I also sent an email to them at REPLD@com.state.oh.us asking about study areas for the test.

I hope this helps and I'll let you know when I receive reply from my email.

    Sophia,

I sent this email to the Dept of Commerce, Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing (OHIO) as I said I would....

    Sent Email Quote:

    Subj: Private Investigator State Test
Date: 10/14/2002 7:10:58 AM Eastern Daylight Time
    From: BrettDeem
    To: REPLD@com.state.oh.us

    To whom it may concern,

Is there a study guide or any way of finding out what to study for prior to taking the State Private Investigators License Test ?

    Thank You for Your Time,

Brett C Deem (END Email sent Quote)

And here is the reply I received.

    Recieved Email Quote:

    Subj: PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR EXAM
Date: 10/16/2002 8:44:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time
    From: BSWATSON@com.state.oh.us
    To: BrettDeem

Test is partially based on the Ohio Laws and Rules booklet that comes with the application. The other part of the test is based on the experience requirement one must have in order to qualify for a license. (i.e., 2 years, 4000 hours, in the 2 years preceding application) (END recieved Email Quote)

    Hope this helps

    Aloha,

    Thanks Ed,

I am NOT currently licensed in my state ( but thanks for the inference). I could pass the test anytime. The only thing I need is the requisite experience. I am very "book smart" and have done my "homework" especially in regards to my home state.

    Thanks
