How much is my corporation worth? | Thu, Jan 25th, 2007
|
For those of you who incorporate your business using IPIU's exclusive Colorado Program, the question comes up asking "How much is my corporation worth each year?" Here are some ideas to consider:
- If you do nothing with your corporation each year, except keep it's state fees and registered agent current, then you basically have a "Seasoned Corporation" which can be resold by you to a new stockholder later on.
- What is a Seasoned Corporation? It is a corporation which was incorporated more than a year ago. Sometimes seasoned corporations were incorporated 50 years ago.
There are numerous reasons for purchasing a seasoned corporation or LLC. Some clients choose to invest in a seasoned corporation because they increase in value each and every year. Others choose to purchase seasoned entities to blend with their current business to gain increased business history, easily and effectively.
- Why would someone want to buy a seasoned corporation? The answer is typically that a seasoned corporation, otherwise known as an aged corporation, is shown on the public records as being in business for many years, thereby raising the liklihood that an owner can obtain unsecured credit for the corporation without having to use a social security card credit report. Having corporate credit instead of personal credit allows the owner to avoid personal liability for the debts.
- How much does a seasoned corporation sell for? They usually increase in value at a rate from $1000 to $3000 per year, and sometimes $5000 per year.
Here is a current For Sale list from one broker:
- 2 year old LLC/Corporation: $5,000
- 3 year old LLC/Corporation: $6,000
- 5 year old LLC/Corporation: $8,500 (reg: $10,000)
- 8 year old LLC/Corporation: $13,500 (reg: $16,000)
- 10 year old LLC/Corporation: $16,000 (reg: $20,000)
- 15 year old LLC/Corporation: $23,000 (reg: $30,000)

A study of how one's private spaces--both at home and on the job--offer unexpected and unplanned keys to one's personality, explaining how the things we own and how we arrange them can showcase personality traits and reveal how we interpret the world around us. Hardcover: 298 pages SNOOP: In 1942, as the United States was entering World War II, the Office of Strategic Services -- the precursor to today's CIA -- was scrambling to find promising spies to go behind enemy lines. One of the aptitude exams it developed was the Belongings Test, in which candidates had to draw conclusions about a man based purely on items in his bedroom: clothes, a timetable, a ticket receipt. Sam Gosling, an associate professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, has made a career of studying how such clues illuminate personality. His premise is that our personalities seep out in everything we do and that expert snoopers can draw remarkably accurate pictures of us by examining the traces we leave behind. Gosling's conclusions are supported by rigorous academic research, but his engaging book is aimed at a popular audience; he presents it as a field guide to the "special brand of voyeurism" he calls "snoopology." Few readers may actually rummage through their neighbors' garbage in search of what Gosling dryly calls "behavioral residue," but Snoop's conceit makes for an entertaining tour of how people project their inner selves outward into the world. Some clues come from explicit, deliberate identity claims, like the Malcolm X poster on your wall or the crucifix over your bed. Others, like the songs you download or the coffee cup you throw away, are what psychologists call "seepage," messages that leak out beneath your notice. The trick to decoding a person's space is knowing what to look for. Offices with plants, knick-knacks and symbols of friends, family and pets tend to belong to women; men display more sports items and symbols of their achievements. Rock fans are less friendly, more artistic and more anxious than fans of religious music. Extroverts offer comfortable chairs and bowls of candy as "bait" to lure people into their offices, while difficult people wind up on the remote fringes of the workplace. This may seem like just common sense, but it's not. We think people with messy, disorganized bedrooms will be unpleasant, but we're wrong. We incorrectly assume people whose rooms are highly decorated and cluttered are more extroverted. We make similar errors in judging people directly: We expect timid, grumpy-looking people with weak voices and halting speech to be anxious and easily upset, and we expect self-assured, smiling, stylish people to be open, imaginative and curious. But neither expectation is accurate. On a date or job interview, you may succeed in presenting a misleading impression of yourself. But since the gradual accumulation of clues in your living space is hard to fake, snooping can yield a penetrating portrait. And that, says Gosling, is perfectly okay, because though we try to put our best selves forward, most of us, in the end, want to be known not for who we wish we could be, but for who we are. Of course, one of the main ways we carve out our identity is by consuming. We surround ourselves with things that reinforce our conception of who we are, purchasing not just the objects we need but also symbols that help us articulate our personal narratives. That's why Ramones T-shirts outsell Ramones albums 10 to one and why, Rob Walker asserts, 75 percent of Viking's ultra-high-end kitchen ranges are never used. In Buying In, Walker, who writes a consumer behavior column for the New York Times Magazine, makes a startling claim: Far from being immune to advertising, as many people think, American consumers are increasingly active participants in the marketing process. True, we've grown skeptical of traditional advertising, the clumsy, crass kind in which someone on Madison Avenue thinks up a soft-drink jingle and broadcasts it into ubiquity. And it's true that TiVo and the Internet have given us more control over the advertisements we see. But Walker leads readers through a series of lucid case studies to demonstrate that, in many cases, consumers actively participate in infusing a brand with meaning. Consider the iconic mouthless cat known as Hello Kitty, used for marketing clothes, toys and bandages by the Japanese company Sanrio. She has no personality because the company painstakingly avoids defining her character, Walker says. The key to the mega-brand's success, he suggests, is ensuring that Hello Kitty remains an ambiguous symbol, a blank slate on which buyers can inscribe whatever meaning they want, from nostalgia to camp to subversiveness. For the same reason, the makers of Red Bull never claim anything specific about the highly caffeinated drink's special ingredient, taurine, or which powers of athleticism, mental acuity or virility it supposedly bestows. They prefer marketing campaigns that promote the brand's "personality" by sponsoring such extreme sporting events as kiteboarding to Cuba, kayaking over waterfalls and street luge. Or consider how the Pabst Blue Ribbon brand was hijacked by young, anti-corporate types. PBR's fan base grew not from aggressive marketing, Walker says, but from the lack of it. Long neglected, PBR had virtually no image at all, which helped make it an underground darling among people who attached a blue-collar, honest-workingman, anti-capitalist ethos to the brand. Walker's analysis breaks down in places. He can't fathom why people would pay more for a Viking range or an iPod when competing products are cheaper. Most iPod buyers have never heard of such features as "Smart Playlists" and thus, he concludes, do not understand "all the functions that they paid a premium to obtain" -- as if those functions, and not the device's sleek form, are what drew 100 million purchasers. He considers the notion that people can pay for aesthetic pleasure but then dismisses it, saying it sounds more like a "rationale" than a rational choice. He's likewise baffled by why anyone would buy Method's leaky but beautiful, hourglass-shaped bottle of dish soap. Since we don't parade around town impressing others with elegant cleaning products, there's no "purely rational defense" for buying one, he says, seemingly oblivious to the possibility that we can rationally spend money on aesthetic pleasures we will enjoy alone. But his major argument is convincing: In this new era of participatory marketing, many brands' meanings -- once crafted and maintained from atop the peaks of corporate hierarchies -- now originate from consumers. We once feared an Orwellian future in which big, scary corporations secretly manipulated our thoughts and desires. But commercial influence has become an open-source project. "We have already met the new hidden persuaders," writes Walker, "and they are us." Copyright 2008 WP |

You could be eligible for Social Security Disability Cash whatever your age! | Wed, Feb 13th, 2008
|
You could be eligible for Social Security Disability Cash whatever your age! Here is a quote: "Who is Eligible for Social Security Disability? "If you work long enough at a job, which is covered under the provisions of the Social Security Act, and become disabled, you are probably eligible for Social Security Disability benefits. "According to the Social Security Administration, a "disability" can be:
- physical,
- emotional,
- or some combination of both.
"In order to win benefits, you must have a disability severe enough to keep you from working in any regular paying job for at least 12 consecutive months.
- The test for eligibility for Social Security Disability benefits is not whether you can go back to a job you have lost. It is not whether you have been able to find a job recently.
- The test is whether you are physically and emotionally CAPABLE of doing a job that is generally available in the national economy.
"Furthermore, to obtain Social Security Disability benefits, you must have a doctor state that you are disabled. Your doctor's opinion should be supported by clinical findings and/or laboratory findings. "Unfortunately, many genuinely disabling conditions are difficult to diagnose by objective testing. In cases like that, it is up to an advocate of your choosing to present your doctor's reports properly, and to convince the government that you deserve your Social Security Disability benefits. Are you interested in retaining a paid Advocate? Advocates typically say, "We take care of the government. You have enough to worry about." Filing a Social Security Disability Claim "By law, anyone may file for his or her own Social Security Disability benefits, but statistics clearly show that claimants who are represented by a paid Advocate win their Social Security Disability benefits much more often than those who apply on their own. "The government makes the process very difficult. Waiting lines are long. Forms are complicated. Social Security Disability Benefits are often denied to people who have legitimate Disability claims. As a result, many people who apply for Social Security Disability Benefits on their own become discouraged and intimidated, so they simply back off, give up, and go away even when they are genuinely entitled to their Social Security Disability benefits. But Advocates do not let the government intimidate their clients. They are always active, aggressive advocates for their clients. It is a tough job, but they have been doing it for a long time. They are good at it and proud of the fact that they win such a high percentage of cases. Advocates combine the strength and focus of their national organization, with the personalization and attention to detail that comes from having a permanent presence in each community that they serve. How are Advocates paid? Their fees are usually 25% of the past-due benefits but are only paid if they are successful. In most cases, their fees are capped at $5300. The cap is set by the Commissioner and is always subject to change. |

IPIU's Private Investigator Forums Rated the BEST for PI's | Wed, Jan 09th, 2008
|
IPIU's Private Investigator Forums Rated the BEST for PI's by Liam Deantoni. Here is what Laim wrote: "Since the trustworthy growth of the internet proceeding the dot com era, private investigators are now highly involving themselves on the internet. They're doing everything from networking within their own community, to providing expert advice (free download private investigator courses) and picking up new clients. "Private investigator forums have started to be a great resource on the internet due to the private investigator industries "private" tendencies. It is not necessarily easy to find information on things that are supposed to be private. However, private investigator forums bring a whole new light to the industry, without damaging the industry at the same time. "Whether you're trying to find a free private investigator downloading course, you're trying to find a private investigator in West Palm Beach Florida or you're trying to find the best way to become a private investigator, private investigator forums will find a solution for you. "The question is, which private investigator forum do you use? ". . . IPIU is an excellent forum. With over 39,000 members, it's is highly active. It is strictly made for private investigators, which does leave out consumers and clients. www.ipiu.com Source link |

Dominic Ferraro joins Private Investigators Forums | Wed, Jan 09th, 2008
|
Dominic V. Ferraro has joined the Private Investigators Forums. His personal introduction is here: Dominic V. Ferraro Link For those of you who do not know of Dominic's interesting family history, below is a copy from his home page: QUOTE: "Our family's private investigation and security service heritage begins with my father, Thomas E. Ferraro, Jr. My father had served as a highly decorated and recognized Police Officer/Detective in the Northwestern Chicagoland Suburb of Niles, Illinois. While serving the citizens of Niles, my father also continually indulged his entrepreneurial spirit by starting a variety of businesses including an ice cream and sandwich shop, a private airplane company, a flower store, and game rooms. In addition to starting and operating his own businesses, he also worked as Director of Security for a major department store as well as a major food and catering business. "One night, while reading in bed, my father finished a book written by G. Gordon Liddy and decided right then and there that he wanted to start a Private Security Agency with him. My father woke my mother up and told her of his plan. Mom was used to him devising and following through with such big plans and, of course, was supportive. The only problem was that Liddy was in prison serving time for his involvement in the Watergate Scandal. Eventually Liddy's sentence was commuted by then President Jimmy Carter, and in the early 1980's, he and my father started G. Gordon Liddy & Associates, an international Private Security and Counter-Surveillance Agency. "While G. Gordon Liddy & Associates grew to be very successful, Liddy became very busy pursuing his political and book writing dreams and my father decided it was time to part ways. Even after the split, the two larger than life men maintained a solid friendship and both remained successful in their respective ventures. "With the death of G. Gordon Liddy & Associates came the birth of The Protection Group, Ltd. and the dawn of a new era. In addition to the services formally provided by G. Gordon Liddy & Associates, my father expanded into residential and commercial security systems, security guards, and VIP protection. "With my mother by his side, my father successfully owned and operated The Protection Group and several other similar companies until his tragic death on April 17, 1997. I was too young and inexperienced to take over the family business and it was sold off piece by piece. I promised myself that I would follow in my father's footsteps and would carry on his legacy. In an early attempt to keep that promise, I pursued an opportunity given to me by James Ross of Ross Engineering, LLC and became the youngest person in the United States to be certified in Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM). "Still coping with my father's death, I began a journey to "real-world" educate myself in a variety of industries and was successful in obtaining multiple high-level management positions with different companies. Having not achieved my life-long dream of becoming a Police Officer, and having not yet fulfilled my promise to myself to carry on my father's legacy, I knew I needed to make some changes. With the support of my wonderful wife, I quit my full-time job and was hired as a part-time Deputy Sheriff with the opportunity to send myself through the Law Enforcement Academy. I completed the academy and while searching for a full-time Law Enforcement opportunity, I re-entered the corporate world managing sales for an International plastics company and took on another part-time job as a Police Officer. The money was great, but the smell of the board room and the dullness of the work soon reminded me why I left the world of business trips and Monday morning meetings behind. My part-time Law Enforcement jobs were just enough to keep me happy, but I knew I wanted to be involved in the serving and protecting business full-time. I entered the hiring process for a full-time job at a Sheriff's Department and was offered the job. I accepted the job and eventually was promoted to Sergeant. "To make a long story short, I stayed with that Sheriff's Department and took on another part-time Police Officer job as well as a part-time Investigator job with a highly recognized local Personal Injury Law Office. Performing those investigations put me back on the path my father had walked on once before. Eventually my mother (a retired Sheriff's Department Sergeant/Deputy), my wife, and I decided it was time to start our own Private Detective and Security Agency while I remained in Law Enforcement. Advanced Protection Group, LLC. was born! "We are dedicated to carrying on my father's tradition of providing outstanding, professional, innovative, trustworthy, and affordable investigative and security services to our clients. As our client you will enjoy knowing that you are always on our minds and that we are available to you 24 hours a day, every single day of the year. "Thank you for trusting us to keep you safe and to help you know the truth! -Dominic V. Ferraro, President September 15, 2007" |

Save a child with AMBER ALERT [img2=left]http://www.chp.ca.gov/images/amber-1.jpg[/img2]A parent's worst nightmare is a child abduction. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 74 percent of children who were abducted and later found murdered were killed within three hours of being taken. Quick response is vital.AMBER ALERT empowers law enforcement, the media and the public to combat abduction by sending out immediate, up-to-date information that aids in the child's safe recovery. The AMBER ALERT Program has helped in successfully recovering over one hundred children since it was established statewide in California on July 31, 2002. The AMBER ALERT Program originated in Texas in 1996 after 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was abducted and murdered. Texas organized a system that encouraged law enforcement agencies to alert the media following a confirmed child abduction. California introduced the AMBER ALERT concept in 1999 as a regional program. In 2002 it was adopted statewide after legislation established procedures to assist law. AMBER ALERT Guidelines
- AMBER ALERT may be activated only by law enforcement agencies.
- AMBER ALERT is intended only for the most serious, time-critical child abduction cases.
- AMBER ALERT is not intended for cases involving runaways or parental abduction, except in life-threatening situations.
Criteria for activating an AMBER ALERT: Law enforcement agencies ensure these conditions are met before activating an AMBER ALERT:
- The investigating law enforcement agency confirms an abduction has occurred.
- The victim is 17 years of age or younger, or has a proven mental or physical disability.
- The victim is in imminent danger of serious injury or death.
- There is information available that, if provided to the public, could assist in the child's safe recovery.

MONTANA PI UNION OFFICE - On alert again from nation's largest fires. | Thu, Jul 19th, 2007
|
SATURDAY, AUGUST 4, 2007
Montana gets hit again - this time with fast roving fires. Montana gets hit again - this time with fast roving fires. As soon as we just got through the last disaster, our state moved on the become the Number 1 in major fires this weekend. So far, your PI Union Office in Bigfork, Montana, is safe. But surrounding communities are feeling the pressure of mandatory evacuation, smoke filled skies, and raining ash! Your prayers and thoughts will be appreciated by the one million residents in Montana and nearby states.
Montana Governor flies to Seeley Lake fire as area residents are evacuated People living in the areas around Seeley Lake and Placid Lake were told Saturday afternoon to evacuate their homes because of a fire raging three miles west of Seeley Lake, fueled by winds of 25 miles per hour and racing toward Seeley Lake.“At this time, honestly, for the next five hours, it’s in the hands of God,” Gov. Brian Schweitzer said in a telephone interview from the scene. Schweitzer canceled his sched-uled speech Saturday night at the Montana Democratic Party’s officers’ convention in Helena to remain on the scene. He received a call mid-day at the convention and left to ride a state helicopter to Seeley Lake with state Forester Bob Harrington. People fled the area in cars piled high with vacation gear and towing boats and camp-ers. Southbound traffic on Route 83 backed up 30 deep at Clearwater Junction. On their way out of the area, they passed people water-skiing on Salmon Lake, as an ominous plume of grey- and rose-colored smoke rose in the sky. The governor said residents in the area were being told to shut their propane tanks, shut off their electricity, open their gates to possibly save their livestock, and to grab their pets and head to Clearwater Junction, where emergency shelters were being set up by the Red Cross and other organizations. Firefighting crews were pulled off the fire as it headed toward the resort town of Seeley Lake. “You can’t put good crews in front of fire,” Schweitzer said. Even before the evacuation order was given, Kirby said that some people in area campgrounds had hitched up their trailers in preparation for leaving, while others simply drove home, said Jamie Kirby, fire prevention specialist for the state Department of Natu-ral Resources and Environmental Control “That’s a big help to us,” Kirby said. The evacuation order affects several dozen homes in the Placid Lake area, about half of them seasonal, she said. Mark Williams of Lake Country Builders has constructed a good many of the homes affected by the evacuation order west of Boy Scout Road. Three generations of his family were in the midst of a two-week-long at his own cabin east of Boy Scout Road on the banks of Seeley Lake. Originally, Williams was told to evacuate, but the order was lifted in favor of the evacuation of just those residents to the west. “It’s a little bit of Chicken Little going on right now,” said Williams. “I don’t think the places down as low as the lake are in danger - the fire has a long way to go and lot of open space in between before it reaches this point,” he said. Shortly after the evacuation order for east of Boy Scout Road was lifted, Williams said a breeze came up and lifted the smoke. “We saw the column of smoke - it’s pretty good-sized but it’s west of here, definitely,” said Williams.
