There are many little features with the vBB Software...

I will give you a few that should be interesting for you and everyone. In order to keep the action from initiating, I will have to place spaces within the quotes such as [ action ], but do not use the spaces when you actually want the action to take place...

If you are wishing to make LARGE TEXT, then you can use the:

    [ size=5 ]EXAMPLE[ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

Now if you wish for smaller text, you can do the following:

    [ size=1 ]EXAMPLE[ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

The number 5 produces LARGE TEXT and the number 1 produces SMALLER TEST. You can use 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...

    [ size=5 ]EXAMPLE[ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

    [ size=4 ]EXAMPLE[ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

    [ size=3 ]EXAMPLE[ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

    [ size=2 ]EXAMPLE[ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

    [ size=1 ]EXAMPLE[ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

If you wish for this to be BOLD, then you could add this tag:

    [ size=5 ] [ b ]EXAMPLE[ /b ][ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

Now, to change the color of this text, you can use this:

    [ size=5 ][ b ][ color=blue ]EXAMPLE[ /color ][ /b ][ /size ]

    This will produce EXAMPLE

Now, to display and image (which you will need your image stored somewhere with the url available to direct the img tag to find, you will need to do this (I will use my FRA Badge as an example)...

    [ img ]http://www.bounty-one.com/Graphics/fra-badge.jpg[ /img ]

    This will produce:

PLEASE NOTE: There are many websites where you can obtain FREE Space for storing images. In this instance, you would have the link as:

    [ img ]www.yourwebsite.com/Images/yourimage.xxx[ /img ]

The links that many Members here (and are already pretty well familiar with are very easy...

vBB Software has a procedure that it does automatically down below the posting area and which is normally checked automatically. It is called:

    [ ] Automatically parse URLs

You can just type the url using the http://www.ipiu.org and it will automatically link that URL...

or you can just do the following:

    [ url ]http://ipiu.org[ /url ]

    This will produce:

    http://www.ipiu.org

Now, instead of showing the actual URL, you can hide the URL and set as follows:

    [ url=http://www.ipiu.org ]CLICK HERE[ /url ]

    This will produce the following:

and again, if you wish to bold the CLICK HERE, you can add the following:

    [ url=http://www.ipiu.org ][ b ]CLICK HERE[ /b ][ /url ]

Now, this will produce the following:

And again if you wish to color the text CLICK HERE, you can do the following:

    [ url=http://www.ipiu.org ][ b ][ color=red ]CLICK HERE[ /color ][ /b ][ /url ]

Now, this will produce the following:

That's all I'll do as it is late...

I will try to add more later...

    Cool

One thing that I just now noticed in your post above Michael is that you were referring to HTML Code...

HTML Coding (or script writing) is totally different to vBB Coding used in the software used here at IPIU...

As far as the vBB Software, it is comprised of many different Scripts used for the operation. Many of them include php, mySQL, and also comprises of much HTML and Javascript...

The vBB coding which includes [ ], and the codes that I posted above is used by the members for enhancing their posts...

I will try to put together a little more on the vBB Coding and posts here today or tomorrow...

I noticed this right off when I started my own web page. HTML looks way more complicated, at least to me. Thank you for posting these instructions.

    Frank,

I just wanted to Thank You for the information. I've been holding off on putting links in my posts until just recently, partly because I was still negotiating all of the different threads and partly because I was unsure of my skills . You're info has certainly helped brush the cobwebs off my HTML coding.

Smile Computers are good systems and helpful!

However ,I still think that PC's are just an extention or a tool to do things faster and allowed you to be more creative. Nothing will ever replace the human brain.

Question How to copy and paste an Image or link

Can someone tell me how to copy and paste, a link, and or image?? I am still having problems with trying to post a reply with a link in it such as this, Maybe someone needs help and I want to direct them to the Introduction Lounge. This is what I think the link should look like, however, it will not work when clicked on. http://www.ipiu.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=45 Any idea just what it is I am doing wrong here? I can use all the other vBcodes just fine, such as Bold Italic Underline Font Size Color Blue and of course, the smiles Does anyone here have an idea on this, I want to learn this vBcode for posting replies, and it is driving me nuts, because, I do not get it!! P.S. I also do not have a problem with reply posting an e-mail such as, if someone needed to go here:tutor@ipiu.org This link will work just fine.

    Re: Software Tutorial from Frank

I am going to try some of this in the morning because right now, I'm pretty bruned out from all the reading I've been doing. I have seen HTML coding and this does look a lot easier. I think I'll have to write some of the vB coding down on paper until I can memorize it.

    Thank you
