    PI LICENSING: Idaho

Although there is "no state licensing" for private investigators, some cities require a "city license".

If your city does not have a requirement for a "private investigator's business license", then any business license will do for your agency.

If you live in a town that does not have business licensing, then we suggest you register for your company name at the local county courthouse. The fee in Idaho counties is approximately $5.

By establishing your business now (before any state licensing becomes a potential future act), then your company's experience may be grandfathered in.

I received this member email from Agent Relations:

"In the city of both Pocatello and Chubbuck they require a P.I license.

"It's easier to get a business license and employ myself, but how will this effect my IPIU training?

"I need to be trained to know what I am doing.

"Also, I need to find out how to be bonded.

    "Do you have any suggestions?

    Answer 1:

IPIU Members have a free benefit available to them.

Go to the forum titled Obtaining Your Private Investigator License or Agency License Forum and read the topic INSTRUCTIONS Topic .

    Answer 2:
Does Pocatello and Chubbuck require a "private investigators business license" ? If so, do you have a copy of the application? Is there a website for Pocatello and Chubbuck that has the application? I'm curious to see if they require experience or not.

Operating outside Pocatello and Chubbuck does not require a PI License.
