To ALL: If you get a PAGE DOES NOT DISPLAY, do this:

THERE MAY BE 2 OR MORE PAGES
    to this Topic!

Make sure you click on the Page Number at
the bottom and top of this Topic.

If you get a PAGES DOES NOT DISPLAY for this forum, close your browser, open a new browser, and go to www.yahoo.com and click on any of their news links. If the news links works in your new browser, then return to this forum and see if you still get the PAGE DOES NOT DISPLAY page. If you do, then proceed as follows:

Please keep NOTEPAD open when you are accessing our forum pages.

Then everytime you get a PAGE DOES NOT DISPLAY, paste the web address in NOTEPAD, with the date and time.

Then click REFRESH or F5 on your keyboard to refresh the page until the page loads.

When you click REFRESH, you will notice your mouse cursor may show a TIME-CLOCK while it is trying to refresh the page. If the TIME-CLOCK stops, then hit REFRESH again.

This last week we have noticed that the number of refreshes can take from 1-15 times!

Before you leave the forums, please copy and paste your results in a Reply to this Topic. Our tech support will monitor the results.

Remember to include the weblink that you got the Page Does Not Display, PLUS the date and time.

    Thank you for support.

I also received two email replay notifications for the same post of Kanda Force: http://www.ipiu.org/forums//showthre...9762#post69762 or http://www.ipiu.org/forums/showthrea...9&goto=newpost. I found one email when I turned on my computer, and the second one was received shortly after that (approximately 15/17 min. later).

Same thing for Becky Brown. This time I received 4 replay emails:http://www.ipiu.org/forums//showthre...4&goto=newpost

http://www.ipiu.org/forums//showthre...2&goto=newpost - Second reply email for same post 4:04 PM ET 3/30/03

Also, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM ET, when I clicked on "SUBMIT REPLY" the pages vanished immediately. When I finished everything and closed Yahoo, I found all those three pages actually in the back of the Yahoo's screen. This happened to me also like three weeks ago before IPIU started the maintenance of the web site.

    TO ALL:

We are now located on a NEW WEB SERVER.

Therefore, we should not have anymore problems with the web pages loading. But who knows!

If you happen to experience the same outages as above, please post them. Otherwise, we are happy to see the end of this nightmare.

Please be as happy as you can be. So far, I did not encounter any problem, and it's quick also. I am happy too, and I do not think to be the only member with this feeling of relief.

Great job. Congratulations to everybody. You can finally enjoy your weekends.

I had a problem today, which is not connected to the display of a page. While on the main page of a certain Forum, I tried to surf the topics by using the mouse wheel instead the right down or up arrows. Each time I used the mouse wheel, I jumped on another Forum page. When I used the right down and up arrows, everything worked normal (no jumps on other Forums). It's not a problem for me to work this way, but I wanted you know this because it is not normal. Thanks for reading.

    same thing

I hope I'm asking my question in the rite place. I've been having difficulty accessing forums, sending replies, and navigating without logging on again and again and again. I've registered and re-registered as well as having password re-activated several times. Even this message is questionable to being sent until I do. About 75% of my replies are lost in space. Can anyone please advise me. I'm very patient but this has been a problem for >month now. Thanx.

Thumbs up So glad to see stability

I would like to add to the list of pleased users. In the last, little over a week, the board has been stable. Thanks to all those who pursued the correction of the problem. It was, I'm sure all would agree, extremely frustrating. But that is in the past, and now we can move forward.

Once again, thank you all for your diligence!

    Smile problem

    Dear Adminstration:

Keeping this service up to date, I want to inform you that today, 04/17/03 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:38 p.m. in this forum http://www.ipiu.org/forums//forumdis...?s=&forumid=15, the server is not taking me to submitted replies.

Additionally, I was not able to Log Off earlier.

I get this response: "There seems to have been a slight problem with the Private Investigator Forums database.

I would like to add to the above that all notification emails received from Sarah, Josie for the last assignment, plus the email of today from Mary for the next assignment, went straight to my BULK Mail with Yahoo.

Actually, all I receive in my regular mail box are the reply emails. All other emails go to the BULK Mail. Thanks.

This entire evening, I had big problems when I wanted to submit my replies. The problem is the same for all Forums. No difference. It started yesterday actually, and I thought that there was something wrong with my Internet connection. It seems that Yahoo has also some problems with their site. I do not know if there is a connection between Yahoo's problem and the problem with your server, but it really gets me this time.

When I click on the submit button, I get the above mentioned announcement. When I click on refresh button, a window opens and prompts me to click on back button. It also offers me the alternative to click on Retry button. When I clicked on Retry button, my replay was edited.

I want to believe and pray to God to have this web site available this weekend when I'll have time to work more. Please, do not get me wrong, but it is pretty annoying. I just cannot work this way, and I want to work. In other words, when I need it, I just do not have it.

    Thanks for reading.

Cannot access any of the replay emails received for Brad's Journal: http://www.ipiu.org/forums//showthre...88goto=newpost

Each time, I get the following message: "Invalid thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster." When I clicked on Mr. Webmaster, I've got: "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed."

I wish you good luck. I do not know about me. It seems that I am the only one who finds these kind of things. I am surprised.

    My Dear Carmen,

Thank heavens someone does. Thank you for your dedication. Should I experience a similar problem, I will certainly post the problem.

    Take care and good patience,

    Thank you, Thomas.

By the way, I have just noticed while writing this reply that my Smilies (left side, under "Your Reply") are still there, but the distance between the first and the second column of Smilies is three times bigger than usual.

    Talk to you later.

Very strange, Carmen. It doesn't show that way on my screen. They are all spaced normally. Another new one mystery.

If you find the answer to that one, I would be interested.

    Good luck.

Believe it or not, it's okay now. I cannot understand this. It's like this site is playing around with me.

    Good Morning Carmen,

I remember one time in the office, where I worked on a laptop, there were tiny little ants all over the place. I ended up with bugs in my computer!

    The above is a fact.

    Talking Oh, boy!

It's not the case. If I would see ants or "bugs" in my apartment, my Landlord would have a big problem with me. He already has a few. I do not think he wishes for more.

I receive two email notifications for the same post.

I receive email notifications even for my own posts.

I never receive enough money, but big bills.

There's got to be something wrong in my order of priorities.

The thread may have been modified by the time you got the email. Just manually go to the topic to read it.

Of course, I can do it manually. That's not a problem, but I wanted you to know it because it's only his link with this problem. The others (Becky, Liz, Deborah) are okay. It looked really unusual to me.

By the way, last night his link had the same problem. Thanks for reading and help.

    Unhappy ipiu SERVER

I am glad to see that I am not alone in experiencing difficulty accessing this site.Thought it must be my slow 56k modem.
My problem is that my computer freezes when I shift to a different page on your site, forcing me to reload my browser.(Netscape 4.7).
Would I be better off using MS Explorer?
Have also noticed a tremendous amount of cookies & advertising being loaded as I change pages . Maybe your server needs to be upgraded. It is very exasperting to wait 7-10 minutes for a page to load.

    Hi, Les!

Welcome to IPIU with your first comment.

It happened the same to me when I first started last year in September. Exasperating is not the proper word: it's like killing. And it's not the server. It's your computer.

In December 2002, I bought a new computer (SONY/VAIO) using a store card. I also changed AOL with DSL. Now, I'm flying while I surf this web site and use Internet Explorer. You will see some comments about AOL on these Forums. Nobody likes it due to what they do.

I do not know what else should I tell you. Maybe, if you have a good friend with a computer different than yours, you might want to try to access this web site from his computer. You will see the difference immediately.

Welcome to IPIU once again, and meet you on the Forums.

There are a few different types of 56modems, and the worse is a 56-Flex (which means you may only be transferring from 10 to 56K, and most average around 20. Compare that to 400k with a DSL line.

    Cable is another good choice.

The Newscape 4.7 is the main problem. It was replaced 2 years ago. Immediately go to www.netscape.com and either do a free download upgrade to Version 7.0 (which may take a few hours, although free) or order their disk for about $10.

    Version 4.7 is a nightmare.

Absolutely! It too is free and you need to upgrade to Explorer Version 7.0 immediately at www.miscrosoft.com .

Explorer is the endorsed browser of choice.

Not so much the cookies, but the images that appear on the forum pages. However, once they are loaded on your computer, the next visit to the forums is faster because there are no more loading of new images. The pages will look to the downloaded images on your PC from the prior visit.

The server is new, however we had some problems 2 weeks ago with mysql issues that have been corrected.

Nevertheless, we are now looking at a semi-dedicated server that will offer faster loading as we grow.

If you have to wait longer than 30 seconds, do a trace route in your DOS window to our server at www.ipiu.org . I always do this to make sure it is not the server, but my local connection or computer. In Windows 98 and XP the DOS window is titled COMMAND PROMPT. When the DOS window comes up, type in the following:

    tracert www.ipiu.org

(Then wait to read the results. If you see REQUEST TIME OUT, then the server is down)

I personally don't have such a problem with Yahoo. But, I keep receiving Deborah's email notifications in the Bulk file. This is crazy.

    Dear Carmen,
Thanks for responding. Talk about crazy!

Recently, I had a check box pop up, stating that yahoo was filtering some messages from India, and asked to reply yes or no for approval.
Then, yahoo stated that if you say no your yahoo might not perform optimally. I responded no and subsequently have problems such as not being able to return to yahoo to clear the suscription business.

I was just wondering if anyone else received this checkbox?

Thanks to all who responded to my question.
However I think I have solved my problem in an alternate manner.

Suggestions to change my browser were not satisfactory to me as I am running on an antique computer that is OK for most purposes, but admittedly small in terms of RAM. It will be upgraded when there is a next gen. OS that has changes that are not just superficial or cosmetic

Netscape 7.02 and MS Explorer 6 or whatever the current flavor is are exeedingly large programs that eat up tons of memory and would run at a snails pace on this old boy.
What I did do was to go to C-net.com
and under downloads section, found a program called Download Accelerator Plus. I am currently using it and find my pages load a lot faster with this program that is small comparitively to the bloatware in the newer Netscape and Microsoft browsers.
Thought I would pass it along as well as thank everyone who took the time respond to my first problem.
