    Re: Requirements: Private Investigator Trainees

Because I am former Law Enforcement and have all of my POST Certificates as well as all of my certificates from being on the Sheriffs SWAT Team and Gang Enforcement Deputy, can I obtain my credentials now from this organization?

I haven't seen any postings from KY. Is this a new state for IPIU? If I am the first Private Investigator in this state, I am a proud representative.

Brandon, on behalf of those who want to be here and possess a great attitude you can save your comments. No one is twisting your arm to participate. You can have a great attitude and get through it or just not log on to IPIU and get involved. The choice is all yours but we truly do not need the negativity. Have a great day.

I have been an Investigator in Colorado for 25 yrs. I completed the required information today online. Could you tell me what level I am at, will I receive hard copy material and information, how long does it take to start receiving cases from the Colorado Springs, CO. area? As you can see I have alot of questions.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

    When Can I Start?

I recently graduated from 000. I am having a bit of trouble getting an actual reply, stating when and where I can start. I just want an assignment. I have 675 credit hours. I made straight A's. I thought this was a way to get started into the business. I am truly interested in the discussions of the forum, but I need to work. How do I let the right people know I'm ready for an assignment without breaking the rules?

Hi everyone, it has been awhile that I have been back to review all the comments so I feel a little behind. I am awaiting my badge and manuals to review and cannot wait. I am wondering is it wise for PI's to carry a concealed firearms, and if so how would I go about it. I am prior law enforcement and it seems very hard for me to adjust to not having my sidearms. Any opinions? Thank you all! Elee

    Help

    Hi Ed:

I have a very confusing question and need quidence. Can you help me? I think the item below is a little misleading to any newcomers who are trying to become a PI. This I do believe was written my one of the firms IPIU staff members, but don't quote me on it because I am not sure!

Here's how it reads: "3) Academic Training will be provided by IPIU through it's free Training Manual and private forums. On-the-job training will be provided by the agencies we have listed in the private members forums."

Can someone help me understand this? We don't get free training or manuals because you have to be a member?!?! We pay for everything! At least I never received a free manual, training, etc.

    HELP
    Michelle,

The answer to your question is both "yes and no".

    Here are the facts:

    1) Free on-the-job paid training is available free to anyone who is either hired directly by the endorsed agencies and firms, or referred through IPIU to its union members. Each agency has its own hiring manager who makes the decision of hiring based on an applicant's resume', which may or may not include union membership. We have several Level 1-Guest members here that are working for Level 4 Agencies. Those Level 1-Guest members chose to apply directly to the agencies on their own without choosing union affiliation. The difference is that they only have access to that one agency they work for, while union members have access to over 150 agencies and firms. Therefore, the term "free" is correct in the broad sense.

    2) Because of your post, I updated the quote you referenced for additional clarity. Please read it on Page 1 of this topic for the revised text. It includes clarifying that the email was from a prospective union member. And the answers given were based on a completed union membership application.

    3) Further, for about the cost of two tanks of gasoline a year, we could very well provide all of the union benefits free to the general public. We have 50,000+ union members worldwide, which allows us to keep our costs down. For 16 years we have strived to serve our members by passing along more savings and benefits than any other association of private investigators.

    4) And last, I think it is fair to say that many local offers in your own town advertise their products or services for free based on a condition. Whether it is:

    Get 2 Tires Free
    (when buying two other tires)

Get 3 Months Free Internet Service
(when committing to 9 more months of payments)

    Get Free Milk
(when you purchase 3 boxes of cereal)

    Get Free Medical Care
(after you work your **** off paying taxes until age 65)

    and . . .

    Get Free Union Benefits
    (as a union member)

As for your personal file, this is not the place to discuss it in a public forum. Please click on the CONTACT US link at the bottom of any forum page and send a message for your status.

    All my best,

    Robert

Hi Paul! When your membership is paid for (not sure if you did through the mail) you should receive email notification that a trainer has been assigned to you. Your trainer will notify you that all documents have been received and tell you what your user name and password information is. Just respond to him/her and tell them what your current information is (user name) and to please merge them. Worked for me! Hope this helps. Have a great afternoon!

  25. #25
Thanks Nicole but I guess I was not clear on my reply. I have already paid for the package for my documents and filled them out and sent them back. Now I have signed up for the IPIU Union membership which is what I was referring to. Any other information would be appreciated.

Is the training for crime scene analysis solely on the job or are there classes that need to be taken? If so are the classes in a classroom setting or is everything done online? If you have a criminal justice degree what are some of the perks?

Please ask this question from within your Introduction Topic which is:
    Todd Wayne Mouser
, where it can be better addressed by other moderators and forum trainers.

Also, you should be reading the threads given to you by Ed. Your Introduction Topic is more of a Resume. That which is read by potential employers. The less you put in, the less they will learn. It would be in your best interest to go to your Introduction and reply with a little about yourself. Read some of the other introductions to get an idea.

All the best to you in your new career. Have a great weekend.
