I've sent an email on 6/3 requesting an application and could not get in touch with anyone by phone, the line is always busy and/or voice mail greeting comes on.

Will some get in touch with me?

Yes, I am a new member, finally! I got a hold of the toll free number to sign up for electronic registration. I'll be visiting here more frequent now.

    contacting ipiu

    John,

How long did it take for you to get hold of someone at ipiu. I have left messages and have yet to be contacted. I have some questions about the process and fees before I sign up. I mainly need to find out what the $79 is for. Example: My state fees for a "CC" license are $142 including application, fingerprints, and license. Is ipiu's fee part of that? And do I need to pay for fingerprintng if I've already had it done for previous employment? I'm an unemployed single mom in college (Legal Assisting program), so I need to find the least expensive way of accomplishing my PI goal. I don't mind the fees if I'm already making money, but I can't figure out if it's possible to start training before paying all the fees. Any advice?

If you called the Criminal Warrants center, they won't have any of the answers for you except what they do, namely verify state licensing and conduct clearances. They refer all potential candidates to the IPIU website here where you can read the policies.

    No.

The $89.50 fee is for a three-year FBI NCIC monitoring of your conduct, just like what the state would do if you had a CC license. If you have a CC license, then there is no $89.50 fee required. You would use a waiver.

Go to the Licensing Forum at this website and look at the FLORIDA topic for more answers to the exemptions too.

If you still have the hard copy, then you can use it. Otherwise, IPIU will mail an FBI card to you for your prints to be taken by a local law enforcement officer. The card is then returned to IPIU.

Simply don't join right now! Just use your free User Name to access all of the Level 1 forums to obtain the basics. If you decide later, then consider only joining the union for $60 a year. (See the Membership Topic in the Union News Forum.
