    Hello All,

This was my very first trainee assignment, so I’m happy that it went as well as it did. Now hopefully, my nerves will get better each time I do one of these.

I did two back to back undercover bank assignments today. I earned $12.50 for 4 minutes at each bank. I withdrew cash from the bank teller and had to inquire about an IRA.

I earned $25.00 for 8 minutes. Not bad, but working for better and more cases. Just working on my confidence and taking the baby steps I need right now and in no time, I’ll be where the rest of you are! …. : )

Congratulations Kathleen. As time goes by and you become more experienced, you will find that the assignments become second nature and just as exciting. I am sure the nerves are always there, but they become less prevalent with the experience.

Again, congratulations and may you continue to succeed in your chosen career path.

    You know its funny,

I can't ever remember having small cases when I first started way back when. I ended up diving into the deep end of the pool without realizing I had. My first assignment with Templar Detective Agency was an undercover job working nights/weekends with a cover as a computer tech at a company. Second one I was working as a cover on the cleaning crew at a car dealership. The third was Desk Clerk at a hotel/conference area.

Heh I actually wish I'd have been able to start nice and slow back then. So its good you get to dip your toes in little by little, rather than be thrown into the deep end to figure out how to swim. I'm sure it will be a smoother transition on your nerves heh.

Its probably a very good start for you.

Re: First Trainee Case: $25 for 8 minutes!

Just to add, this actually a funny story so I really do want to share it.
This just highlights how intense it can get, and why I am glad you got to start slowly Kathleen.

My first case was with a computer support company that was experiencing some thefts of new computers. And when they chained them to the desks, the computer chips and ram started disappearing. At the time Bob didn't have anyone who even knew how to run a typewriter, much less a computer. It was a really old school detective agency.

I'd just come out of the TV reporter field, and I drew that case because of prior career and I was the only one who had "computer" experience... Lol that meant I'd spent about a week or two with an old Tandy Radio shack IBM style during the days of real live floppy disks. And at the time the OS of the day was Windows 98. Windows XP was a long ways off yet and... the Mouse was relatively new technology. I'd never worked with it or windows before.

They sent me in blind hire because the corporate office in New Jersey couldn't get it through HR quietly. So I had to make a quiet infiltration. I walk in with a resume that's phony as hell, barely knowing anything about computers with no actual training or degree in them. I bluffed (wild guessed) my way through the Interview and somehow made it through Didrick (the contract manager) and managed to get hired.

So... while simultaneously having to hunt down a computer thief.... AND learn how to be a DSL technician AND help End Users with troubleshooting problems with no actual experience/training or even practical knowledge of computers... I also had to walk around and seem like I knew what I was doing in a room full of computer techs. Luckily it was the beginning days of windows computers so there weren't that terribly many who knew a lot about them either.

Now... that's enough to stress anyone out. So I'm glad your entry into the world of Private Investigation is a little more... slowly easing in. I hope you enjoy it as much as we all do.

    Well Yes and no,

I'd narrowed it down eventually to one guy. I was in contact with Bob thinking of a way to get "transfered" to his area for closer contact and surveillance. But... he got fired for "misuse of company internet policy" (aka downloading porn) before I could put it through. The thefts suddenly stopped after that and never repeated themselves.

So yeah I had him, but he cut his own throat before I could do it. After that the company didn't care to pursue it any further.

If you all are using names, hopefully they are changed to protect the (maybe not so) innocent

    Levy,

As a good Investigator, you can find answers like this yourself... real easy, just google it

This is what I found, to answer your questions...
    http://money.cnn.com/retirement/guid...ymag/index.htm

IRA stands for Individual Retirement Account, and it's basically a savings account with big tax breaks, making it an ideal way to sock away cash for your retirement. (more)

Re: First Trainee Case: $25 for 8 minutes!

I find it fascinating to read these stories about their first assignments and how they went about doing it while being nervous and yet stayed professional. I really liked the one of the computer parts and how he eventually slit his own throat. I know that quite a fe businesses that have computers in them block unsolicited sites such as porn or online gambling so that you can't get into them on the employers computers.
I can't wait until I have my first assignment, but for now I will learn all that I can from the forums while studying the regulations for my state regarding licensing procedures.
