Two Baltimore City sheriff's deputies were shot Monday during an exchange of gunfire with another man. The man was shot and killed.

Investigators received the call at about 6 a.m. Monday. The shooting occurred in the 1700 block of North Fulton Street when deputies went inside a house to serve a warrant.

City police spokesman Troy Harris said the deputies are members of the Warrant Apprehension Taskforce. One of the deputies was shot in the neck and was taken to Shock Trauma, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

The other deputy was grazed in the top of the head by a shot, authorities said. He was also taken to Shock Trauma.

The culprit in the incident was shot and killed at the scene, investigators said.

Traffic was being detoured in the area during the investigation.

Police said the warrant was for a probation violation. The person killed was not the person named in the warrant. That person was taken into custody.
