    Surveillance Specialist?

    Hello,
This is my first time on this very informative forum. I have a question that I am hoping you can help me with. I have been in the Security field (Corporate, Industrial and Private) for the last 25 years with different company's. For the last five years I have been working independently as a "Surveillance Specialist". My clients include Attorneys, some Insurance Company's, and private individuals. I do some "workers comp" cases but mostly theft, from small businesses and domestic cases. I have had some people tell me I need a P.I. license to do this. This is my question. I don't do investigations. I usually get the subject(s) on video/still and thats about the extent of it. I do give written reports. I haven't had any trouble with police in areas where they have been called for a "suspicious person". After I explain what I am doing and give them my business card they are on there way. I pay my taxes ,as"Contractor" Can you give me you opinion on this matter.
    Thank You,
    Bernard

    Re: Surveillance Specialist?

    Hello Bernard.

My personal opinion is "No" I do not believe that you need a PI license to conduct the business you do. But I am not an authority on this so I would suggest that you read over the North Carolina License forum.

    Good Luck to you Bernard.
