Arrow CHRISTMAS SEASON down by 60% - Parents & Lawsuits shut down Spirit & Giving

What has happened to our Christmas?

    From news across America:

    • "Toys for Tots reported on Friday, December 22nd, two days before Christmas Eve, they were DOWN 60% in Toys for under-privileged children! The cause? Few people are giving!

    • "Toys for Tots has been shut down in selected areas across America because of lawsuits against the promotion of "Christmas" toys.

    • "Kenneth Mott, who keeps a long, white beard, almost lost his job after a parent called the bus management to complain. Mott, who has worn the red and white hat every Christmas since he started with the Bauman & Sons bus company five years ago, was ordered to stop wearing the hat because a child didn't believe in Santa Claus and was bothered by the hat. "I said, 'What, are you kidding me?'" Mott recalled. "I thought it was a big joke."

    • "Every holiday season for 25 years there were Christmas trees at the airport serving Seattle. But one complaint accompanied by the threat of legal action was enough to get them removed. Officials at Sea Tac Airport say a rabbi with the Central Organization for Jewish Learning calls them offensive. He hired a lawyer and threatened to sue. An airport spokeswoman says the two sides couldn't reach an agreement before the suit was to be filed. So all 15 trees were removed.

    • "Commercial businesses across the country, including MACY'S DEPARTMENT STORE in New York City (where the famous Christmas movie "Miracle on 34th Street" was filmed) have REMOVED their "Merry Christmas" signage and have replaced it with "Holiday Greetings".

Mike Johnson of The Alliance Defense Fund and SayChristmas.Org and Pastor Patrick Wooden a Pentecostal Minister appeared on The O’Reilly Factor to discuss the term “Merry Christmas” being shut out of American culture. Johnson and several hundred other lawyers of the ADF are offering their services for free to defend Christmas celebrations in America. Pastor Wooden has started an advertisement and radio campaign to encourage people to support those who recognize Christmas

I am glad that the International Private Investigators Union recognizes Christmas each season. IPIU also recognizes any other religious theme just for the asking by emailing a request!

We are a world of traditions, and Christmas is one season that brings together people. Let's show the critics the exit door or place them on the next space shuttle to the moon.

Thank GOD, yes I said God.... that IPIU has what it takes to speak out for the beliefs of the majority.

I can't believe what is happening to this country. It's okay to openly talk about prostitutes, gays, abortion, murder and any other subjects that used to be taboo.......but Christmas is offensive. What a shame.

If the people in this country do not wake up and assert their rights and stop all of these upcoming idiots we will become a civilization that is living in no better than under Communism.

Thank you IPIU for all that you do for us. And MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Yet another example of our steep slide toward socialism and the eroding of our rights as outlined in the constitution and Bill of Rights.

I'm not even Christian, and this whole thing irritates me. Why is it that everyone has to be offended by something so harmless?

It seems to me that we have an incredible number of people spending a lot of time in all the wrong areas, rather than the real issues. Just look at the state of our elected officials to see a real problem.

I, for one, am offended that so many people are uselessly offended. Who do I sue for that?

    In My Personal Opinion

I'm not happy that Christmas is under attack in the Americas. I don't like having generic "happy holidays" being forced down my throat.

I realize that everyone is entitled to their religion and/or faith that they choose, and we shouldn't leave anyone out.

Religious freedom was one of the things that we've had in this country since it's start. I just think that we should be able to say "Merry Christmas" without some civil rights lawyers crying out that "we don't want to offend anybody."

It's the same with the Jewish faith: They are entitled to celebrate Pesach (Passover) and Hannukah, and they don't take pains to force their beliefs on anyone. Neither are Christians trying to force their beliefs on anyone either. There are religions that force you to believe what they say is right in other countries. Christianity is not one of them--at least the Christianity I know.

I'll be chatting more about this in my chat thread later. I just wanted to say to you, Cynthia, is that I agree with you.

    Michael,

You are certainly not alone. There are many IPIU union members who are not Christians who are offended by those who draw swords against the principles of respect and tolerance. IPIU has enlarged upon the best of principles and tolerances and embodied them into a Mission Statement, Oath, and Code of Ethics.

I believe your plead (your suit) was heard many years ago when IPIU was founded as a private union association that only permitted members to join if they signed an Oath. For those who refuse to sign the Oath, then they are left either on their own or among those whose mission is contrary to our Oath and Code of Ethics. Therefore, they will have no platform here to espouse intolerance of our principles of respect. Fair enough?
