I am about to join IPIU via the Preferred Member. Does the $99 membership cover the first year of dues also, or will I have to pay $99 to become a member and another $99 for dues? It's not very clear to me.
Thank you,
Dianna

Hello Dianna. Welcome
For Licensed Private Investigators:
- Annual dues for Preferred Union Plan is $99/year
- Annual dues for Management Union Plan is $149/year
For Unlicensed Private Investigators (and Trainees):
- Request your union Private Investigator Photo Credentials ID: $89 (Good for 3 years)
- You can choose to wait until you have received your Credentials to choose a union plan (Preferred or Management)
- After the first year, the union will keep your private investigator photo credentials current at no cost to you as long as your dues are paid.
Notes:
The first amount (for unlicensed PIs and trainees only) is for your photo credentials and which pays for them being monitored for three years. That's a one time cost for you.
Then you are encouraged to become a member and pay your union dues, which is payable yearly, unless you pick a two year option that actually will save you some cash in the long run.
I know it seems, money for this and money for that, but in the long run you become a member of a family, you have a career you can train for, and you wind up with better options than if you don't become a member, I think.
Another person that knows more will supplement me with more information, but if you have the drive to succeed, and the patience, you will get your money back and more, plus you will end up knowing more about things than you otherwise wouldn't.
I intend to read your intro with interest, and thank you for posting your question.

Or, return to this topic to read the revisions I did to Johnny's answer to you. It's important that both you and John understand how simple the union is, and the proper words chosen (such as union dues versus requesting your Private Investigator Photo Credentials). These are two separate, but important, parts to the first year.
All my best,
Robert

Robert, thank you for clarifying my post. I appreciate all the efforts you put in making IPIU work for all members. I'll refer to that post as an answer in the future. Again, Thanks.

Johnny and Robert, thank you both for your answers.
