Talking Two Minutes after I walked in on my First Assignment, the nerves went away!

    Hi,
I just wanted to tell those of you that haven't done an assignment yet, don't let it get you uptight. I was very nervous for my 1st one but 2 minutes after I walked in the nerves just left and my mind took over, it was great. Now it's much more fun because I don't get that 'pit in my stomach' feeling.
Hang in there and keep reading, it really does give you the info that you will want to fall back on.
Good luck, and , good reading!

    Hi Susana,
Hang in there, it will happen. The day I learned that I could start applying I did, I sat up late that night applying to as many as I could, the very next day I received a phone call from one of the companies, she was in a bind because there was a shop in my area and she didn't have anybody to do it, she told me that this was one of the more challenging shops they do, I decided to jump in the deep end and swim, I'm glad I did!
Now because I'm signed up with so many different companies I get emails everyday that I can choose from.
Just keep applying, it will all be worth it for you too.
    Good luck to you!

    Thank You Incoronata,
Mind if I ask the origin of your name? I really like it but when I try to pronounce it I find myself doing a combination Spanish/Italian accent, pay me no attention, I'm easily entertained by my antics.

    Thumbs up Thanks Joyce....

I really needed that encouragement and more later . Being in my profession, I guess one wouldn't think I would be nervous or have butterflies.....but I am, even now as we speak. I do appreciate your pep-talk Joyce. Take care and be safe!

    Hi Joyce,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I to was a little nervous going out on my PI assignment. The nervousness started when I walked into the establishment to check out the surroundings and ask a simple question. I also got the 'pit in my stomach' 'pit in my stomach'. But I will just keep trying and keep reading.

    Thanks Again,
    Christina

    Joyce,
I remember doing my first secret shopper, and i wasn't even thing about the PI end of it yet. Funny how you just slip right into role and feel so charged after you finished the assignment. I am jazzed that we have better options as an IPIU member, Thanks and keep posting those happy letters.

It's true, the nerves go away quite quickly. You will also be surprised by how much you remember what you have been taught.

Ha! I hear what your saying on this one Joyce. On my very first day on the job a couple of years ago, my boss asked me to bring in my camcorder so she could see what I would be using. She checked out my camera and said, "Go, I'll see you in about eight hours," and gave me some reading material as to what was required of me. She also gave me a name, an address and the most brief description I have ever seen on a human. That was IT! No time to worry about anything. I took the usual hourly quick shots and also approximately six minutes of some pretty good video of the claimant/subject. Not a bad first day! Thanks, Joyce, for this post and the memory.

At least you got a description, Lynne. I never did. I had no idea who I should be videoing so I watched everyone. I got the right person but I still had plenty of footage of other people I didn't need. Boss was angry until I reminded him I had no description.

I can understand about being nervous. The first assignment I ever went to was on a loading dock as an undercover investigator and I was really nervous. But after seeing what was going on the very first day I just settled right in and did the job. after that it was a piece of cake. LOL LOL LOL

    Hello Joyce,

Thank you for calming my nerves. It has been a few years since I last did a mystery shop. I am sure that when I start I will be at ease and will do just fine.

    Thank you for the encouragement.
