NEW POVERTY GUIDELINES: For free benefits

For USA Citizens, the following may be of benefit to you in receiving free benefits (food, clothing, shelter, free medication)

As an example of the above, some drug companies will provide you with monthly free drugs through your doctor's application who will certify that your annual income is slightly less than 200% of the above chart for your family size.

In this example, if you and your spouse have a reported income less than $24,980 a year, then the drug is free.

For more specific benefits, forms, and dialog, please address your discussions in the private union member's forums below:

    Request to Legal Affairs.

Legal, is there any chance this topic could be updated to match current poverty guidelines?

Also, is there any way you could address the members regarding benefits provided by the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs? They have programs for disabled veterans (Medical and Prescriptions, for starters) as well as disability compensation and non-service connected Pension. Otherwise, I would love to research the current rates for comp, pension, and other benefits for you if you would like.

thanks! & in answer to the above question on how do they make it on that amount? by learning to give up the little luxeries in life, & using what is avaible, like instead of buying a mag, go to the local library & check out a few...some states offer free movie night outside during the summer.. like in VA -mount trashmore & in FL, jax beach pavillion... you learn how to make tomato soup from scratch, costs about 5 dolars & feeds an army ....

Good advise Goldie. I think all of us are learning to be a bit more frugal. Especially with the "gas prices"! Some of us have to do what we have to do.
