    Katerina,

The answer to your question is in the original quote on the following page:
    http://www.ipiu.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1631

Namely, that it is easier to get your own agency than to apply just as a PI. Owning your agency has many more options and opportunities.

For Union members who need personal help, go to the Level 4 forum titled OBTAINING YOUR LICENSE

It looks like the last post to this thread was 11/19/2004 and here it is 01/02/2006. I am really hoping there are still some Washingtoians out there willing to share in their experiences with getting trained and licensed here. I am very new, still waiting for my inital package for intern credentials and would be happy to hear from some of the previous posters on this thread. There were several individuals who were in the process of getting trained and licensed and I would love to know how that went.
    Thank you,
    Bonnie Wilson

I am a very determined person who achieves her goals no matter how long it may take, or how many obstacles I may have to overcome.

I believe that the necessity and demand for good Private Investigators will increase as Law Enforcement become more and more unable to handle and process cases with the increased focus on terrorism and all that fighting that battle entails. Wish and hope that we will not need to look for the assigment, instead they come to us since is such demand for them.

With that in mind I personally have devoted much time to personal studies of related subjects such as criminology, and law to give myself an added edge and continue to become more knowledgeable.

Simple activities like using the who, what, when, where, how and why in make believe scenarios and practicing these investigative processes in my daily routine as Councelor for behavior problems Youth's, Dependency and D/V Advocacy are all good practice for me.

Yes, you have to be persistent and browse those sites for long hours after you pass your test and reach level 4 status.

Assignments ?? Yes, you will have the opportunity for different one, not related to hard criminal act and terrorism but intrigant as well. I wish you good luck and many many assignments.

I am not licensed in WA State since I conduct investigation through other agency and it is not requirement in our state unless you have your own agency, but I might open one soon.
Wish to network all Washington IPIU's to share experiences and
    knowledge.

    Sincerly,

    Katerina Zahirovic M.

    Hi, Rick! WELCOME!

You're right about that! Washington state seem to always be last to jump on the 'ol band wagon. That could only mean more work for us.....right?

    Arrow Washington Licensing

    Hello Everyone,

I was reading about the Licensure of PI's in Washington State on their website and found out a lot of great information.

I went ahead and did all the digging for everyone so they could see what was required in WA for PI's. Here is what I found.

    General Info - D.O.L. Site

Application for Licensure - PDF Application
Armed PI's - Washington State CJTC
CPL Information - D.O.L. Firearms Section

Hopefully the above links will answer any questions any of you may have regarding the requirements in WA State for PI Licensure.

See you around in the Forums!

    Re: PI LICENSING: Washington

My thanks to all of you in washington, where I also reside, for all the information and links.

At present I am waiting for my manual and test, with baited breath, as I am eager to get started.

My main area of interest is in research, search and internet tracing, as well as auditing and I am guessing that software is going to be an aditional expense. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can get some of this software?

    Re: Washington Licensing

Another fun fact about Washington State is: If you are only searching public records you are exempt from licensing at all. Check out the exemptions before you pony up the cash. There are a lot of "nitches" that do not require a Wa State License to be a PI.

The test is typically based off the Private Investigator Statutes. As long as you study that, you should do well.

However, some states will permit you to take the test before you actually are qualified to get the license, while other states will not provide you with a test date until they preapprove your application and experience rating.

Let us know how it goes,
