    Bond Agent Classes

    Hello,

I understand that to become a bail bond agent that one must take a training course. Do you have any idea where I can take this course. I stay in Colorado. Any information will be helpful.

    Thanks

    John

I don't know and will look some more for you but...
    Bounty Hunter Laws for Wisconsin...

I think this means it is illegal to be a BEA, FEA or what ever you call it.

Wis. Stat. § 969.12 provides that no surety can be compensated for serving as a surety, effectively eliminating the commercial bond market. See Kahn v. McCormack, 299 N.W. 2d 279 (Ct. App. 1980)(upholding constitutionality of statute and stating that purpose of the law is eliminate the commercial bond industry).

Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

Check out Professional Bail Agents of Colorado

Link to training program is http://www.pbacolorado.com/pdfs/school_application.pdf

I'm planning on doing the course later next year and getting licensed as a BEA in Colorado myself, so let me know how you get on.

    Re: Bond Agent Classes

You need to check with Colorado State Gov's website. They will list the laws and also have some links to state approved institutions that conduct proper POST training.

    Re: Bond Agent Classes

Virginia DCJS has approved training academies for Bail Enforcement, Bail Bonds and Private Investigations. No classes taught or offered by anyone not associated and licensed as a DCJS training academy are acceptable.

This is not to say that you can't get excellent training on how to be successful from the NABEA, NIBE, NSIN, etc.

    beabountyhunter.com
is an excellent resource as well as PIEducation.com as it meets numerous state continuing education requirements.

I have taken these classes myself and thought it was money well spent and internet based so it fit in with my unpredictable schedule.

To be successful, one must locate and adhere to all state statutes in their area of operation. Then they must obtain correct information from reputable sources or organizations. Ask a potential Bail Bondsman/Client who they would recommend. Also ask them if they can introduce you to the individual that they use so that they might mentor you.

This business is dangerous and not for the faint of heart. It also presents an excellent business opportunity for a Licensed PI to search out the fugitives for a working bail enforcement agent. You can get paid by your time or as a percentage of the bond (my preference).

    Scott
