I had a problem today, which is not connected to the display of a page. While on the main page of a certain Forum, I tried to surf the topics by using the mouse wheel instead the right down or up arrows. Each time I used the mouse wheel, I jumped on another Forum page. When I used the right down and up arrows, everything worked normal (no jumps on other Forums). It's not a problem for me to work this way, but I wanted you know this because it is not normal. Thanks for reading. :)

I've registered and re-registered as well as having password re-activated several times. Even this message is questionable to being sent until I do. About 75% of my replies are lost in space. Can anyone please advise me. I'm very patient but this has been a problem for >month now. Thanx.

This entire evening, I had big problems when I wanted to submit my replies. The problem is the same for all Forums. No difference. It started yesterday actually, and I thought that there was something wrong with my Internet connection. It seems that Yahoo has also some problems with their site. I do not know if there is a connection between Yahoo's problem and the problem with your server, but it really gets me this time.

When I click on the submit button, I get the above mentioned announcement. When I click on refresh button, a window opens and prompts me to click on back button. It also offers me the alternative to click on Retry button. When I clicked on Retry button, my replay was edited.

I want to believe and pray to God to have this web site available this weekend when I'll have time to work more. Please, do not get me wrong, but it is pretty annoying. I just cannot work this way, and I want to work. In other words, when I need it, I just do not have it.

Thanks for reading. :)

I am glad to see that I am not alone in experiencing difficulty accessing this site.Thought it must be my slow 56k modem.
My problem is that my computer freezes when I shift to a different page on your site, forcing me to reload my browser.(Netscape 4.7).

Have also noticed a tremendous amount of cookies & advertising being loaded as I change pages . Maybe your server needs to be upgraded. It is very exasperting to wait 7-10 minutes for a page to load.

Hi, Les!

Welcome to IPIU with your first comment. :)

It happened the same to me when I first started last year in September. Exasperating is not the proper word: it's like killing. And it's not the server. It's your computer.

In December 2002, I bought a new computer (SONY/VAIO) using a store card. I also changed AOL with DSL. Now, I'm flying while I surf this web site and use Internet Explorer. You will see some comments about AOL on these Forums. Nobody likes it due to what they do.

I do not know what else should I tell you. Maybe, if you have a good friend with a computer different than yours, you might want to try to access this web site from his computer. You will see the difference immediately.

Welcome to IPIU once again, and meet you on the Forums. :)

There are a few different types of 56modems, and the worse is a 56-Flex (which means you may only be transferring from 10 to 56K, and most average around 20. Compare that to 400k with a DSL line. :)

Cable is another good choice.

The Newscape 4.7 is the main problem. It was replaced 2 years ago. Immediately go to www.netscape.com and either do a free download upgrade to Version 7.0 (which may take a few hours, although free) or order their disk for about $10.

Version 4.7 is a nightmare.

Absolutely! It too is free and you need to upgrade to Explorer Version 7.0 immediately at www.miscrosoft.com .

Explorer is the endorsed browser of choice.

Not so much the cookies, but the images that appear on the forum pages. However, once they are loaded on your computer, the next visit to the forums is faster because there are no more loading of new images. The pages will look to the downloaded images on your PC from the prior visit.

The server is new, however we had some problems 2 weeks ago with mysql issues that have been corrected.

Nevertheless, we are now looking at a semi-dedicated server that will offer faster loading as we grow.

If you have to wait longer than 30 seconds, do a trace route in your DOS window to our server at www.ipiu.org . I always do this to make sure it is not the server, but my local connection or computer. In Windows 98 and XP the DOS window is titled COMMAND PROMPT. When the DOS window comes up, type in the following:

tracert www.ipiu.org

(Then wait to read the results. If you see REQUEST TIME OUT, then the server is down)

Dear Carmen,
Thanks for responding. Talk about crazy!

Recently, I had a check box pop up, stating that yahoo was filtering some messages from India, and asked to reply yes or no for approval.
Then, yahoo stated that if you say no your yahoo might not perform optimally. I responded no and subsequently have problems such as not being able to return to yahoo to clear the suscription business.

I was just wondering if anyone else received this checkbox?

Thanks to all who responded to my question.
However I think I have solved my problem in an alternate manner.

Suggestions to change my browser were not satisfactory to me as I am running on an antique computer that is OK for most purposes, but admittedly small in terms of RAM. It will be upgraded when there is a next gen. OS that has changes that are not just superficial or cosmetic

Netscape 7.02 and MS Explorer 6 or whatever the current flavor is are exeedingly large programs that eat up tons of memory and would run at a snails pace on this old boy.
What I did do was to go to C-net.com
and under downloads section, found a program called Download Accelerator Plus. I am currently using it and find my pages load a lot faster with this program that is small comparitively to the bloatware in the newer Netscape and Microsoft browsers.
Thought I would pass it along as well as thank everyone who took the time respond to my first problem.

Dear Carmen,

I regret realizing that once Yahoo gets certain habits, they are hard to break.

When you unsuscribe form a thread and then all your threads, can you proceed to check your mail with Private Investigator Forums still open, minimized?

Yahoo never acted this way preiously with me. I use the same action I've used, since I started on these forums.

I wish you luck with getting mail in your inbox instead of having it delivered to bulk, too.

I've had the same thing happen with my Yahoo mail box. Most of the IPIU automated replies go to the Inbox. I had one go to the Bulk mail box. Strange indeed... Just call it a "Yahooism". ;) :D Talk to you soon.

Dear Carmen,

When you unsuscribe form a thread and then all your threads, can you proceed to check your mail with Private Investigator Forums still open, minimized?Yes, I can. By mistake, I unsubscriebed (just cliked on the wrong link due to the speed), but everything stayed the same. No problems.

The problem is that you cannot find an email address for Yahoo to get in touch with them and complaint. Or at least, I couldn't. :(

I have noticed this issue with Yahoo as well. Some days I have a large number of IPIU messages in my bulk folder and a larger number in my inbox. Other times, just one or two messages in the bulk folder or none at all, and the rest in my inbox. It seems to be sporatic and part of the Yahoo spam filters. At least I seem to be getting all of the messages :)

My IPIU email are mixed between my Inbox, and my Bulk folders. I hope I am getting all of them! I think, I am. I have had the problem in the past, of not get an assignment notice for the Federal Anti-Piracy Assignments. I believe I wasn't the only one having this problem at that time. I think this problem was fixed though. ;)

Have a wonderful day. Take care. :)
