If you have a forum signature to use, then . . .

We encourage members to use their Signatures, but please understand that each time you turn your signature ON in a post topic, it costs our web site extra bandwidth.

Please use your Signature conservatively (only turn it ON in your Post Reply button once per page).

There are thirty (30) posts per page, or 30 posts per topic page. Some topics have several pages because the topic may have more than 30 posts, which causes the extra posts to go to Page 2 or Page 3 of the same topic.

When posting in a discussion topic that contains multiple pages, we ask that only one post on each page has your signature turned "on".

If you see that you have several posts on the same page with your signature turned on, then please click on the EDIT button of each post to manually turn OFF the signatures (except for one). If you do not have an EDIT button, just ask a moderator to help.

While IPIU is entering it's 19th year anniversary, The Private Investigator Forums are approaching our 9 year anniversary. We have grown to over 50,000 members worldwide.

In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the use of your optional Signature when posting.

GUEST MEMBERS who are not union members, which may include Licensed Private Investigators and other Professionals, typically have a Level-1 Professional Signature approved by Legal Affairs.

Here are samples:

WILLIAM REAGAN
Licensed Private Investigator (CA# 000000)
California, USA

WILLIAM REAGAN
Licensed Private Investigator (CA# 000000)
ABC Investigations
California, USA

In the above sample, there is no address, city, website, email, or phone.

<hr>
<HR>
To qualify for a signature upgrade, the guest forum member must either have:

A website of their own,
Or, they must become a union member of IPIU.Click on the following topic links for details:

Want to provide your Email/Website to other PI's? (http://www.ipiu.org/forums/showthread.php?t=19427)

Obtain your own website for as little as $7/month (http://www.ipiu.org/forums/showthread.php?p=68831)

Upon approval of any of the above, the following is an example of an approved full signature:

WILLIAM REAGAN
Licensed Private Investigator (CA# 000000)
ABC Investigations
Sacramento, California
www.abc-investigations.com (http://www.abc-investigations.com)
your.name@pi-agency.us

Those who have been approved by Legal Affairs are prohibited from circumventing the intended purpose of the approved Signature File. Legal Affairs will instruct Technical Support on the approved formatting of the Signature.

For all other signatures and posting of images (including QUOTES) the following rules apply:

Please use your Signature conservatively. When posting in a topic that contains multiple pages, we ask that only one post in each page has the signature turned "on". If you see that you have several posts on the same page with your signature turned on, then please click on the EDIT button of each post to manually turn OFF the signatures (except for one).

Appropriate and conservative posting of images in topics and replies is welcomed. However, we encourage our members not to over do the posting of images that do not relate to the topic at hand. Each time an image is posted, it costs the forum bandwidth.

If a member is using the QUOTE feature of another member's comment, please delete the image from your QUOTE and any other off-topic sentences that do not relate to your answer to the quote.

For text signatures that are not preapproved: 2 lines of Size 3 font, or 4 lines of Size 1 font and up to 90 chars per line. All other font sizes above 3, including use of more than the allocated number of lines, requires preapproval. Go to the following Message link:

http://ipiu.org/forums/sendmessage.php

For images in signatures (with no other text): 1 image up to 300 pixels wide, 125 pixels tall and 20k in size.

For images and text in signatures: 1 image up to 100 pixels wide, 40 pixels tall and 7k in size, unless you request preapproval here:

http://ipiu.org/forums/sendmessage.php

Administrators, Moderators, and Forum Guides are to abide by the same policy in casual (unofficial) posts and comments.

Associates and agents may not advertise or use web referral links to advertise or promote any other web site unless preapproved by Legal Affairs. We ask all of our members to refrain from using any non-approved referrals or web links in their signatures.

The exception to the above policy would be any posting a member does in the Test Your Forum Writing Skills forum (http://www.ipiu.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=10) where members may need to learn how to post their signatures and images. The topic in that forum are deleted from time to time because it is only meant to be a test area for training of the forum software.

For those members who have pictures and images larger than the pixel dimensions listed, you will need to have them reduced and then loaded on your own home page.

To determine what pixel size your signature picture is, place your mouse over the picture, and then right-click and choose Properties.

IPIU will be offering free home pages this year for some memberships, and the pictures can be sized.

Suggestions for the use of QUOTES:

When clicking on the QUOTE button of another member's comment, please carefully strip out any comment that does not relate to your answer or reply.

(Some members always click the Quote Button for every comment they wish to post, yet their answer does not always pertain to the quote. By deleting portions of the quote, it also saves on our costs on the forum hard drive storage)

To all members,

If a moderator or an administrator has referred you to this topic for our guidelines on the use of pictures, signatures, quotes, etc, then please return to any topic where your earlier replies have been posted to edit or remove "unnecessary" images and pictures or to turn off your signatures, so as to bring your posts into compliance.

You may edit your own replies by clicking on the EDIT button of any of your posts, then make the changes and save.

Thank you all for your support.

Donna

I was checking all of those sinature blocks, as I would call them, and I was curious about posting a saying of cleashea. However if it is harmful and causes problems with the system I will pass, or would it be acceptible to have a 75- 100 character pump up phrase?

I shall leave no stone unturned!

Ms. Reagan-
I have been trying to add images and all to the "testing" forum yet have not had any luck. Where it says: "Posting rules" at the bottom of my screen, I am allowed to do everything BUT post attachments... I have access to all levels yet cannot post attachments nor a badge with number with my signature.. can you help me with this?
I am so lost in here.. I would like to be able to do these things so I can start applying to offers, yet I am told that agencies look at how many replies in order to show that you can navigate these forums and other things as well yet, I cannot access alot still...

Please help...

Thanks!!!

Edward,
Thanks for the direction. I appreciate it greatly. One more though, I want to pull an image off the internet and use it with my signature. I've tried to find info in the forums, but I feel I may be looking in the wrong place. Any help would be excellent.

Anthony,

Whats to be the problem?? If you know where the URL of the image. Once you get that then you can add that image to your signature. Simply using the IMG vB Code.

Hope this helps.

Flora,

When you want to use only a portion of a quote, click on Quote in that person's post. Then in preview mode, just delete the part you do not want to use.

For the signature, are you adding it to Signature from your control panel? For it to show up when you do a post, you must click the button next to "Show Your Signature", and use the "Submit" button below it, not the one above.

Hope this helps.

Can anyone lead me to the forum to do so?
