Aloha Ed,
I was wondering if you are using cookies to automatically log in when you return to the Forums. If you saw the Oops! page, did you try to login at the bottom of that page? Sometimes that will allow you see the page of the link in your email. Sometimes I have to login again for a page if I have been on for a while.
If you are not using cookies, you might want to turn that option on from http://www.ipiu.org/forums/images/top_profile.gif under Edit Options.
Hope this helps! :)

Not unless you get access to that forum Ed. You may just have to wait until it is moved back. I'm sure there was a good reason for moving it.

Hello, my name is Sara L. Bridges and this is my first time I have tried to post a message. I hope I am in the correct forum, and I just want to ask a couple of questions. How long does it take to receive your Code of Ethics by mail? Mine is on the way, and it has been a while. Also, my brother is very interested in applying for a position with you. Could you tell me what he needs to do and if that is legal with him being kin to me. On the last letter I received from you, there was a sentence that has me a bit confused. It reads like this: "Please email us after the 20th to confirm the receipt of your mailing appears in our data system." What exactly does that mean, let them know if I received my Code of Ethics or what? Thank you and I appreciate your patience.

Sara,
Welcome to the board!!! The majority of your questions can be answered in the following forum and have already been asked, stay at the top of the list, and are very informative.

Please email us after the 20th to confirm the receipt of your mailing appears in our data system." What exactly does that mean, let them know if I received my Code of Ethics or what?
As to this question, I would either wait for someone else to come along or send an e-mail to agentrelations@ipiu.org (usa@ipiu.org)
As far as your brother is concerned, we would be happy to have him. There are quite a few teams of PI's out there that work together. You can either work apart or together, whichever you choose. Till him to get his paperwork on the move. :)
Also, make sure you post a welcome message in the Introduction forum so that others besides myself may welcome you:D
Once again...welcome,
Cynthia Ford

It appears you had emailed Agent Relations requesting a status on whether or not they have received something mailed to the. They stated in their response to you to check back (by emailing them again) sometime around the 20th of the month to see if your mailing was received and appearing in their data system.

Hi, Cynthia. First of all, I want to thank you and everyone else in this whole place for being so attentive and nice. Anyway, about the date for me to contact the IPIU office (the 20th), they told me they had already received everything from me and my file was up to date so far. My husband had mailed it another way besides normal mail and that was my concern, but I know they received it. I suppose they just want me to email them when I get my Code of Ethics filled out and mailed, that is the next step, so I'll try that. Thanks again. Sara

Go to the small button at the top of any page titled SEARCH, and type in your User Name in the Search by User Name area. If your reply was part of the topic that was moved, you can see where it was moved to.
Or, search by typing in some part of the topic title.

If you come first to the main forum menu page and you click on the line that is titled "View Active Titles" (just below the line that says "Welcome back, Gail Lund"), then it will search for all new posts since your last log on.
If you want to go back further in the search, then you look at the URL address line at the top of the screen, and you will see that there is a 5-digit number at the end of the address line. Manually replace the last number with one digit lower and refresh your screen. Continue going back with an earlier number until you get the results you want.
Otherwise, if you are looking for members who have written to you in a topic, then do a search under your own user name and change the option from "Show Results as Threads" to Show Results as Posts". It will show all of you posts in all topics, and from there you can click on each result and read the latest replies posted in that topic.

I too receive emails notifying me of responses to my posts. They are very informative emails telling what the responder said and supplying a link to check it out for myself. Unfortunatley the links do not work. They say the original message has been move or is otherwise not accessible. I apologize, I can't remember the exact verbage.
How do I fix this problem? On occasion I would like to reply to the persons email, frequently I have further questions to aks them. Still, I am unable to access that portion of the forum.
What am I doing wrong?

You can't.
Moderators sometimes move topics and merge others when members post off-topic comments that belogn elsewhere.
Othertimes the topics are archived.
But use the SEARCH button at the top of any forum page and then select ADVANCED SEARCH. Type the member's User Name in the User Name field and test out some of the search options.

Well Ed, you opened a can of worms. But at least now that you and the others asked those questions, now some of us understand why we can't use the links in our e-mail notifications.
I wondered what the problem was. So... a big thanks to you Ed, for bringing the subject up and to all of you for asking the related questions. And most importantly, to those of you who answered so informatively.

I have the same thing to happen. Sometimes the link in the email will bring the post up, and other times it will not. If I copy and paste the link, and am already logged in, it does work. This happens with new threads, not just threads that would have been archived. In every case, I can copy and paste the link and it will work.
So it appears that the problem has something to do with finding the path to the PHP link from an outside source because it will work when already logged in and pasting into the browser.

Your issue has been reported to the software maker.
They are asking:
Is the problem that you aren't logged in when you click the link? Do you get any error messages when you click the link instead of copying and pasting it?

No, as I mentioned before, even when I am already logged in it happens. I can either be in Outlook or have a webmail browser open. At the same time, I am logged in and have two IPIU browsers open...the main page and the thread I am currently viewing.
With the above scenario, I can open an IPIU email and click on the link. Sometimes it goes to the correct thread. Other times I get the vBulletin message below.
You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again.
2. You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
3. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Below is a specific example.
I clicked this link in the email:
http://www.ipiu.org/forums//showthread.php?t=17362&goto=newpost
It went to the error message.
When I copy and paste the same link:
http://www.ipiu.org/forums//showthread.php?t=17362&goto=newpost
Link goes to the post here:
http://www.ipiu.org/forums/showthread.php?p=222067#post222067
Hope this helps. :)
