I posted a question on the forum. I had to leave my computer. I now cannot find it. How do I find it? anyone? Now I am afraid to leave again.

Sydney,

Try to recall which thread you posted it under originally; also check other threads in that forum. Sometimes posts are moved to another thread or forum, which are more appropriate depending on the content.

To quickly find all your posts, use the http://www.ipiu.org/forums/images/top_search.gif key at the top of the page. Enter your user name in the top right corner. After the search is completed, you will find a list of all the posts you have made here.

Hope this helps! :) (Don't be afraid to leave the computer, the forums will be waiting for you when you return.) ;)

Sydney,

The quickest way to find a certain post, if you can't remember what forum it was in, is to click on the http://www.ipiu.org/forums/images/top_search.gif button at the stop right of your screen. It is to the right of the FAQ button, though you may have to scroll your screen just a bit to see it.

Enter your name and you will be given a list of every post you have ever made. You can then click on them to view each one until you find the one you are looking for.

If you still can't find it then there are two possible reasons that I can think of right now. The question is, prior to leaving your computer, did you submit the post or were you still working on it at the time you left?

If you submitted it prior to leaving and a search does not bring it up, then it is possible that it was deleted by a Moderator for some reason. Most of the time when a post has content that is against forum rules they will edit out the improper information and ask you to review the rules for posting. This would leave the post there and give you the opportunity to learn something at the same time.

If you were still in the process of working on the post and had not yet submitted it prior to leaving, then I would say that your computer is set up to do something commonly called a 'time out'. When a certain period of time went by without any action from you, it went into a standby mode and possibly wiped out the post. Since I don't know how your computer is set up I couldn't really say. But the quickest way to locate the post, if it is still there, is to do a search for your name and then find the correct post.

No where to be found?

Uh... it's right next to your nose. ;)

Let's try this, Sydney.

http://www.ipiu.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=6

Then scroll down the menu of Topic Titles (called Threads) and look for your name under the column titled Thread Starter. You will see a topic (that was probably retitled for clarity) with you as the author.

Or, click on the SEARCH button at the top of the page and type in the User Name of Sydney Fuchs. Then hit the enter key on your keyboard.

If you still have problems navigating the forums, send an email to support@ipiu.org and ask for the telephone number of the USA website hosting company that can better assist you.

Thanks for your help.
I did e-mail support and they only sent me hours with no phone number. I just think some things would be clearer talking to a person.
