Hello everyone. Can someone tell me how do I get the answers to questions that I have asked. I get email that notifies me that someone has answered my question, but I don't know how to get there.

Thanks,
Danielle

Danielle,

The e-mail you get will have a link in it, copy and paste this link into your web browser and you should be taken to the correct page. Some e-mail programs allow you to just click on the link, but mine does not so I have to copy the link and paste it into my browser and then hit return for it to work.

Hope this helps!

thank you for responding. Mines doesn't highlight either. Plus I don't know how to copy and paste to my browser so i guess i'll never get the answers.

Thanks anyway
Danielle

Danielle,

Terry gives excellent advise. The email will supply the link to the message.

Here's another helpful hint for navigating the board. When you access the main page, on the right-hand side of the page, you should see Welcome back, (your name). Directly under this, you will find View New Posts. By clicking there, you will get a list of all the new posts since your last visit. You can access and read each thread/post. Sometimes this can be a time saver. :)

Hope this helps.

Danielle,

To copy and paste, follow these steps.

While reading your email message, place your mouse arrow at the end of the address (http: ), press and hold the left button on your mouse while dragging the arrow to the other end of the address. This will highlight the address.

Then, right click your mouse and select "copy".

Then, move the mouse to your server's address box, right click and select "paste". The address should appear in the box. Then click on "go" or press the enter key.

Let us know if you need further assistance. :)

Danielle,

Have you tried clicking on the link that is provided in your e-mails anyway?

In my e-mail links don't highlight, yet if I click on them I am still taken to the fourms and the post. If you haven't tried clicking on it yet, I would just to see what happens. If it doesn't work then we'll have to think of something else. But if it does like mine, then problem solved.

As I've said before, a computer wiz I'm not. But it sounds as if the program you are using to read your mail doesn't have HTML enabled. Therefore, you only get plain text rather than the actual link.

What program are you using to run your e-mail? If it has a HELP button, check it out and see if it tells you how to enable HTML codes for your mail. If not just leave it alone and when we know what program it is then we'll figure it out from there.

In the meantime, I'm going to see if one of the Moderators can move this over to the Computer forum. You'll have much more luck getting intelligent responses from people who know computers backward and forward there than you will here. Besides, this really isn't about signing up for Tech Support anyway. So if you come back and find the last few posts gone, check the Computer forum. :)

Danielle -

Feel free to e-mail me off forums, and I will see if I can help. If I do not have the answer, I will do my best to find it for you. First off, knowing who your internet service provider (ISP) and program used to receive your e-mail (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, etc.) will help paint a picture. Perhaps your browser (i.e. Internet Explorer X.X, Netscape X.X, etc.) if you receive your e-mail by logging into a site such as Yahoo! or whatever.

You'll get to the bottom of the problem. As Kathy mentioned, there are enough computer gurus (moreso than my knowledge) here that will figure it out. :) Don't give up! I know it can be frustrating!

Part of your problem is you are using AOL as an internet connection. Most forum members here do not use AOL. They subscribe to the internet directly though their local phone company or other provider.

If you're needing help on how to use an AOL browser (which is quire different than most standard browsers (such as Explorer or Netscape), then you should call the toll free AOL support line.

Otherwise, consider switching for less money!

Yes.

Simply forget clicking on the email notifications and just return the forums and look at the last date posted in each forum. Then click on each forum you have an interest in and check out the most recent replies and topics.
