Jury Duty S-c-a-m
This has been verified by the FBI (their link is also included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of fraud has surfaced.

The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity was just stolen.

The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois, and Colorado. This (swindle) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

Thank you very much for sharing this information. I had heard this was going around. It is amazing what people are willing to do just not to have to work.

Some how, I've never been called for jury Duty. Not even by a scammer. I've heard alot of people have tried to get out of doing it, but I think it would be interesting.

Oh and by the way, years ago I did get called for Jury Duty and thought it would be fun, but I was a minute late so they disqualified me......

I have never had this happen, however I have had jury duty several times.

This is interesting in that, I have never received a phone call for jury duty, but have been notified only by mail.

I will keep this in mind, in the event that this is still going on.;)

Thanks for sharing this information.:) "DJ"

I don't answer phone calls from numbers I do not recognize, and I certainly do not give out personal info through e-mails either!

I'm glad I know of this 0000 so I can warn my friends/family.

(I don't know where the '0000' came from in my post - I typed in the word '0000' right there.)

So basically its safe to assume that if you get a call for Jury Duty it could very well be a 0000. Guess the safest bet is to wait for the request via snail mail. Good information to know, thanks for posting.
