In response to a question I had in the After Hours Lounge, I was advised to upgrade my password in as many forums as possible as a way to get my name out and to receive more job assignments. However, I do not know what to do in order to "upgrade" and hoping you can help.
Thank you.

certain forums that are closed, then read the
following:
------------
If you feel you should already be ugraded to
a forum that you do not have access to,
please email usa@ipiu.org .
Second:
The advice to "Upgrade your Signature" is located at the top of this page in your personal User Control Panel: http://www.ipiu.org/forums/images/top_profile.gif
Once you click on UCP , the system may prompt you to enter your User Name and Password.
Then it will take you to your profile pages. Feel free to make any changes there, including adding a more "personal" name (if you like) in the Signature area. Under your name, you may want to type in your hometown area and state. If you live in a large city, then city and state would be fine. If you live a rural town, then we suggest you not list your exact city because of privacy concerns, but "areas or regions" are fine, such as Southern California or Southeast Michigan.
Also, you can change your email address and password in your Profile. The password you were assigned may be hard to remember. So change it! Remember, though, a confirming email may be sent . . . and sometimes you may have to click on a certain line in that confirming email to tell the system it was really you.
Enjoy,
Robert

Can anyone help me figure out why I can't access the members only forums? I was informed by Agent Relations that I had been upgraded and after two attempts to resolve the issue, I still can't get in. Has anyone else had any problems like this? Any suggestions would be great. It was mentioned that my PC might be the problem. I'm pretty state of then art and haven't had any problems with the open forums. Thanks in advance for any help.

Jim,
Your picture is not loading to all who can see it. The reason is you have it linked to a website that prohibits "hotlinks" that draw down on their bandwidth resources.
If you have a smaller picture or if you want to email me a copy of your picture, I will load it to our server.

In Michigan there are no specific laws for bounty hunters. So since Michigan does not have a set of laws for individuals who want to be bounty hunters....What do I need to do so I will have access to that forum?

As the subscript under the forum link states, send an e-mail to bounty@ipiu.org requesting access. They will e-mail further instructions to you.

When did you mail your COE? You should be upgraded very shortly after it's receipt.

Forum access upgrades are given upon completion and receipt of your signed code of ethics. If you have sent that in, you can e-mail Agent Relations at usa@ipiu.org to request access upgrades for the forums. Please consider the time necessary for mail to be processed, received at IPIU, and processed there to the appropriate department. Also consider that IPIU is open Monday - Thursday 11am to 7pm Eastern Standard Time, and they observe both US and Canadian holidays. As Larry said, once they receive it, it should be shortly thereafter the upgrade happens.

Catalina.
I have moved and merged several of your topics this evening. Please read the Announcement topic that appears at the top of every forum before you make personal comments about your file on the public boards.
Also, please use the POST REPLY button instead of New Topic when you want to make an additional comment in an existing topic.
Thank you.

Have you completed and sent your signed COE? That is the next step to forum access upgrade. Upon completion and receipt of your signed COE, you will receive a forum upgrade. You may e-mail Agent Relations at usa@ipiu.org for status verification and forum upgrade requests.
After that, the other forums require either a referral letter from the respective agency, or appointment as a trainee as a guide or moderator.
If you have already sent in your COE, I would recommend sending Agent Relations an e-mail for a status update. Remember, "snail" mail will take about a week to show up to the proper desk at IPIU, so if it has been shorter than that, it may still be in processing.
(I don't mean to butt in to your question to Kanda. I know that she has been under the weather. I hope you don't mind {or Kandy, for that matter!}. ;))

Scarlet,
The Ongoing Investigations is a private forum. I am not exactly sure who has access but I know I do not. Some forums are not complete and ready for membership to access, such as MCC.
I am confident we will be given access when the proper time comes. Sorry I can not be of further assistance. :(

Thanks for the information. Believe it or not it was this forum where I first found out about my personal CP.
Thanks,

Hello,
I was reading some of the replies, and I think I meet the requirements for level upgrade. I have mailed the Code of Ethics, photo credentials and finger prints. It's been a few weeks now, my check has cleared, so I believe they have been recieved. I know posts are part of the upgrades of access but I really don't have many questions, I have been to find most of my answers from others. That being said, I probably won't have many posts until I finish training. I have also emailed the usa@ipiu.org requesting upgrade. Until I get upgraded should I just participate in free discussion forums, I don't mind waiting but I really hate wasting other peoples time with stupid comments and questions.

Greetings Dennis,
Upgrades occur when certain process have been met. Since you have already mailed back in your documents, etc., you should be receiving your manual and test shortly. Once you have taken the test and passed you will have access to level 4. Until then you should have access to Levels 1, 2, and 3. If you click on The Private Investigation Forums, found at the very top of the front page of the website, you should notice how many forums you have access to. The type of membership you have is also important and I am giving you a link that will help explain the upgrades http://www.ipiu.org/forums/showpost.php?p=19304&postcount=1 (Membership Options
Posting is an important part of the process and generally reflects your knowledge to navigate the forums, ability to help others and perfecting the skills that are presented in the forum such as the use of html. It is not representative of any level upgrade but is very necessary because both the IPIU and prospective agencies look at your participation.
Right now, until you have taken and passed your exam, you will remain at Level 3. You will be notified after taking the test of your score and upgrade to level 4. If at this time you are not able to access any level, except 4, then email agentrelations@ipiu.org.
I hope this helps.

I have received my photo credential, my PI manual, the self test, my IPIU membership certificate, and I have also signed and mailed the code of ethics agreement. When will I upgrade from level 1 access to the forums? According to the training information I received, I should be at level 3 access. Isn't this correct? Is there anything else I need to do?

Hello- Could I please get referred to the appropriate URL to have my artificial silver badge Photo affixed on my signature line as an avatar, as some IPIU members have it ? That shouldn't be a problem. I want to affix a IMAGE at my signatureew line, but it asks for an approved URL to append it at the bottom. Confused as to how it works ! Just getting back into the swing !
PLEASE ADVISE ME - ASAP !
