Ya know I am a staunch Republican.. Know that first.
Am I the only one that finds some offense in the fact that tomorrow is a federal Holiday, MLK day, and it is the same day as the Democratic Iowa caucus? Should they be allowed to ignore a Federal Holiday and expect people to come out and vote? If it is truly a holiday then it is. If it isn't then it isn't. How can it be ignored? The caucus would never fall on Christmas.

Of course, Christmas is on the same calendar day every year. That makes it pretty easy to plan around. MLK day keeps moving to new dates from one year to another. This year, they moved MLK day to the Iowa Caucus day.
I can't think of anything more appropriate to do on MLK day, than going out to meet with groups of citizens and take decisions about the future of the country.

The Iowa caucus is neither Democrat or Republican, is it? It is their state's general primary election for whichever party is not the incumbent, as I understand.
Secondly, Martin Luther King's federal holiday is not required to be recognized in all states in all level's of business. It is an option for most doors to be open or closed. m I have also seen a diminish in recognizing past presidents and other federal holidays that have been combined. IPIU's office closes for only primarly Canadian Holidays, plus 9 USA holidays.

Holidays are now money days for business, because more people are off.
why not use the same for the caucus, and other town meetings maybe more people will show up.
