I used to read lots of murder mystery novels, but they have to be "different" for me to want to read them now. My first love in reading is science fiction/fantasy, and a new writer named Ty Drago has come out with (hardback) a novel called Phobos.

Most of the action takes place on Phobos, one of the moons of Mars. A man born on Mars, an officer of the "Peace Corps" of 2200 A.D., is sent to Phobos to investigate the deaths of people working in a research facility.

The mystery is interesting and complex. One dead end the investigator runs into, concerning the identity of one of the people behind all the mayhem, is particularly well set up.

I recommend this to anyone who wants a little pleasurable mental downtime, and would love to hear of any fiction or non-fiction that you would recommend.

Thornton,

I'm an avid sci-fi/fantasy fan so any suggestions are always welcome. :)

What about Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Cristie's Hercules Poirot, silver-screen Columbo and many others of our time? They are closer to PI domains and, in some cases, master-"letcturers" in Investigation.

Also, there is the "field of operations". Could be the Red Planet (or any other sci/fi location) a better environment than "the Orient Express", archeological sites of Mesopotamia, London, Paris, New York, the Kings Valley in Egypt, etc., etc.?
I wonder....
