Mark,

First, thank you for the offer! :) I looked at the outline and it sounds very interesting.

Question: Am I correct in thinking this is certification for NY residents only? Also, if it is, how long is the certification good for? I ask because I will be moving to NY, but not for 9 months or so. I have one last contract job (in FL) that will be lasting for at least that long, but I plan on moving back to NY when it's over.
Basically, should I just wait or go for it now?

Mark Messare -

Corinne:

That is an excellent question. The chances are that you will be able to take this course at a later date though I dont know when we will offer it again in the near future. The best part about the bail agent certification is that this is a one time shot. There is no need to have it renewed once it is obtained. The PI license on the other hand needs to be renewed every 2 years as does the Watch Guard & Patrol agency license. Let me know what you decide. Also, keep in mind that the going rate for this course offered by other companies is as high as $600, so you'll be saving a lot using your IPIU membership discount. Mark.

Mark,
Thank you so much for you quick response! It's nice to know some things don't need to be renewed every time you turn around! ;) I let you know what I decide.

Hi Mark, are there any of these classes in Pennsylvania, around Philadelphia?

Mark Messare -
09-23-2003, 02:19 AM
I would contact Joseph Best concerning classes in Penn. I know that he is licensed to teach the NYS Bail Enforcement Class but I am unaware as to the requirements for PA. You can go to www.bailschool.net or www.vorp.net to contact him.

Hello again Mark, I see you are involved in Executive Protection, if there is any advice or info you can give me in this field I sure would appreciate it, I did some myself when I was a Military policeman, I was in Bosnia and on the Personal Security Detail for a US Political Advisor I was the Chase Vehicle Driver and Assistant Personal Security Officer, I really like the training and the work.

Hi Mark,

Great thing you are doing for us. :)
One quick question, do you have any affiliations with other firms here on the west coast, particularly in So Cal., L.A. area for this type of training. If not, what is the closest contact that you know of...?

Take care,

Mark, we emailed quite a few members announcing your offer. If you see enough of a response, perhaps you could take the train to other cities later in the year, or after January. :)

Hello:

Joseph Best is the guest Instructor at this 25 hour course. I will advise him of your interest in other parts of the country. This would actually be a very good opportunity for all of us to train more as an organization. My personal expertise is in the martial arts though I am the President of the company New York Capital Recovery & Protection Inc.

As to whether this course would be valid in your own states I would suggest 2 things:

1. Go to www.fugitiverecovery.com and look at the state laws for your state on bail enforcement

2. Call the dept of state in your state and ask them if NYS Bail Enforcement Certification would be acceptable for training in your home states.

Also, keep in mind that there are many bail jumpers out of NYS, as well as those who hide in NY. This way you would be certified in NY to conduct recovery operations in NY.

The best reason for attending this class besides the Bail Agent education?

Networking, Networking Networking. I know I will call those who Ive met in person when we need to locate a skip who has left NY and gone to say RI, DC, or S. California. If I need to go on vacation, sorry guys Im gonna have to call Hawaii.

This will also give you a chance to meet us.

I have been refering those who need hotel lodging to

Days Inn, Schenectady NY. It is $69 a night.

Remember, It costs $450 for IPIU members only for those who register before October 14th. Registration on the day of the seminar will be $550.00. Make $100 deposit or pay in full by check to :
New York Capital Recovery & Protection Inc. or NYCRP
and mail to :
515 State St
Schenectady NY 12305

Hey Mark,

Here on the West Coast we can use some of this sort of thing. We are just as hungry as the East Coast PI'S. Come on, throw us a bone!

Thanks,

I'm sorry I won't make this particular class, but the discout to Union members is really appreciated. Do you have a mailing list or other means by which I could be notified of a future class opportunity? I really want to go, I just have to put aside some extra shells ahead of time so I am prepared to pay on time.

Thanks a million,

Ned

Thank you for all of your interest. We had a successful turn out. We had a small but responsive class and our instructor said he was willing to work with us to offer more of the same classes in the future. You can contact him with specific questions at www.bailschool.net (Joseph Best). Let him know I sent you. If you are interested in having a training in your area, You as a IPIU member can organize it. One of the things we spoke about was a conference where all members in Private Law Enforcement would be able to come and share thier wears and take part in several different seminars from bail enforcement to PI to martial arts. If you would be interested in something like this let me know. messare@nycrp.com I was thinking of perhaps a week in the Lake George Area of NY at a campsite with cabins and such. Probably $150 for an individual $250 for a family. I was also thinking about this for springtime of next year or early summer.

Mark.
