I answered a job posting here on the I.P.I.U. and I am very pleased to say the agency is keeping me very busy. I was hired on as a sub-contractor. The people are very nice to work with and very accomodating because I also work a full time job. THANK YOU I.P.I.U.!!!!!

Lauren
Congrats to you for successfully pursuing a posted opportunity. I have to wait until January to take the CPS exam here in Florida.
I certainly hope that I will be as lucky finding (Serving) employment as you were. My area is somewhat saturated with companies/agencies so I will work that much harder to break into this arena.
Good Luck!

Thanks William, I wish you well also. I wasn't quite sure if I would like Process Serving but I am finding it quite fun. I have met a wide variety of people. Suprisingly most have been pretty nice (only a couple of grouches) but I guess under the circumstances, I can understand. Sometimes it can be quite challenging, when trying to catch up with people. I just wish I could spend more time serving papers but for now I have to work around my other job which pays my bills and health benefits. Good Luck on your Journey!

Congratulations Lauren, I am new to this also, and it's promising to hear that you have landed a job.
I have read that the difficult part is waiting for all the paperwork to be complete, so I'm at that stage...waiting... meanwhile, I am reading the forums, and adding comments, and questions where I can.

Hi Lauren and evreyone!
I am so happy to have read this post from Lauren because about 7 or 8 months ago, when I joined this forum, I had a chance to start the whole process of becoming a P.I. with IPIU. However, I didn't. I regret it, but am willing to start now.
And thanks to people like Lauren, who post their experiences, I feel even more confident that I can do it too. So again, thank you Lauren and all others who post their experiences. Good Luck and God bless as well.
P.S. I will also be working my full time job and doing the P.I. thing part-time so I hope the assignments I get are accomdating as well. Bye!:p

Hello from central Florida,
I'm also new to the forum. Currently I am waiting on my test to arrive. In the meanwhile, I am searching the forum, deciding on books to buy, looking into schools and thinking about starting off with process serving. I hope I will have some good news to report in the near future.

That's great Theresa!
I'm still waiting for my manual. It's been over a month and I'm getting worried. How long did it take to receive your manual?
Good luck,

Hi Joyce and Theresa!
The time table for the training manual varies depending on how fast the mail moves and on type of payment. Here is a thread that explains it a little more http://www.ipiu.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6741 just keep reading down and you should find your answers. I hope this helps you.
Hang in there, I'm sure you'll have it in no time at all.
Take care and good luck!:)

Your welcome Joyce!
I'm glad I could help you!
You didn't really goof, it is a thread, but it is also a link. Are you confused yet. What I mean is it's a link to the thread. Does that make sense?
Don't feel bad, alot of us made that same mistake. But hang in there you will get it.
If you need any more help just let me know!
Take care and have a good night!:)

Hi everyone,
I am very happy to report that I followed an advertisement on the internet for a private investigator job, so I immediately used the IPIU electronic process for getting my background check done that way instead of waiting for a mailed application. I must say that although it seems long, I feel that eventually it will be well worth it. A week ago I received my ID card along with a congratulation letter and the form which enabled me to request my training manual and test I am looking forward to getting the information so that I can finalize the process and starting working.
:)

Lauren,
Congrats on getting work!:) How hard is it to get a position like that? Is it just a matter of sending a copy of your ID and resume? I am curious because I am eager to get started in this business. I know I am not ready in the forums enough and that is one of my problems. I have been given advice from people in here. but it seems like I dont have enough time to post comments and read as much as others do. If you might have any advice please let me know!
Thanks!:)

I also want to say a quick thank you. For years I have thought about becoming a PI, but the classes that I did find on-line where very costly and didn't offer half the information that I have already found out here.

I am wondering if there is a need for other online classes. I love to learn things, but to get started working, is the information we receive here enough?
I'm willing to enroll in something different online to supplement. I'm just curious about other people's experiences.

Mary,
To start with, I have been a student almost continuously since 1955 (yes, that is right - almost four decades).
I have taken the PI course from Education Direct (only a 98%) and I loved it. I am taking the PI course from PCDI (a 100% so far) and I love it.
I have been the forums since August 2003 and was absent for a few months. I have read so much in here. I am waiting for the IPIU formal training.
You can never have too much training or education. The nice thing is that what I learned in the Education Direct and PCDI courses matches the material in the IPIU forum and the boolks that the IPIU recommends. It also matches the basic criminal justice material from my college courses. The message here is that you are in the right place to learn the right things. Each course I have had was taught with a slightly different appraoch from all the others; I could learn from all of them - it is a matter of preference.
Stay with IPIU and think about taking a formal course.
